Can anyone suggest hoof boots for a small pony which are not completely impossible to put on if you have arthritic fingers? Farrier is adamant he won't shoe until all traces of laminitic damage is gone.
How do they fasten? It is the fiddly wee fasteners on current boots that cause the problem.Cavallos?
I use scoots but can be hard to put on
Second hand scoots should be grand to put on as they’re loose
They are pretty much fully enclosed apart from slits at the sides. What are Cavallos like if you go through mud or water? Current boots are more like sandals, if you know what I mean, very open apart from under the foot.

I have crossed rivers in mine with no issuesWhat are Cavallos like if you go through mud or water? Current boots are more like sandals, if you know what I mean, very open apart from under the foot.
That is what pony has and we have tried using a hoof pick - doesn't help! They have straps on the front but I use a hoof pick!
I use both cavallos and scoots (with hoofpick!) and don’t find either fiddly. There’s a bit of a knack to them, but you’ll soon get it. I find picking out the foot and having the boot to hand immediately to put on helps rather than pick out feet and then boot if that makes sense?
Oh that’s strange! Is it stretching far enough or is getting it around the metal but that’s the trouble? That is what pony has and we have tried using a hoof pick - doesn't help!

Cavallo might be best bet then as they’re Velcro you just strap them inGetting hands to grip hoof pick and manipulate it is the issue. Tend to drop hoof pick and generate lots of sweary words.
