Yesterday night my daugter's horse managed to find hole, put his foot down it and when it emerged he was minus an area of hoof about 1in by 3/4 of an inch, from his coronet down.
It is clean, clay cold and he is sound & up to date with tetanus. I have spoken to my farrier who is coming to look at it tonight. He reckons it could take about a year to grow out.
He has said to work as horse as normal but keep area covered to prevent infection.
Anyone any experience of this or something like it as I am worried about working him with a hole in his hoof??
