I'm not sure what the proper name for this stuff is, my vet calls them sole packs, but its basically a green gel that is put onto the hoof inside the heart bar shoe, which hardens so its like plastic.

My horse is having this put on a week on Saturday, and he can then be turned out and hacked out. It is basically to protect his thin soles after 5 months boxrest due to deep bruising.

How long after it being applied can the horse be turned out? if he has it done on Saturday morning, will he be able to go out in the afternoon, or does it need a day to set and harden fully?

Mine has just had Newmarket sole supports fitten which is like blu tack which then hardens. Can be taken on and off - is this the same thing?

Hiya, my horse has had equipak. Really good stuff that is injected onto the foot after mesh and the shoe has been nailed on. It sets hard and as my farrier describes it "it's like nike's for horses". It stays on as long as the shoes. Only downside is it costs £15 a tube and if your horse has big feet like mine it'll take a tube and a half per foot. Due to cost i am now getting rubber pads which then get silicone injected underneath. Does the same job as equipak but a bit cheaper
