I get it might be a bit crass and not the done thing but is there any rule that says you can’t put hoof glitter on a horse at dressage - Riding Club level?

It’s not for me, my non-husband would disown me!! I’m thinking for a secret Santa gift for someone 😊

I don't know about hoof glitter but I've been thinking about a glitter spray I saw for the beast's tail. He's fleabitten grey and he doesn't sparkle like white greys do. The normal shine sprays don't make that much difference to him 😒
The thing is the dressage judges I know are pretty conservative.. I'm suspicious glitter might give them heart failure 😂

Under BD rules it would not be permitted. 2018 rulebook:
133. Decoration
Any unusual decoration of the horse with unnatural items such as ribbons, flowers or anything applied to the horse such as glitter is forbidden unless worn in breed specific classes.
Discreet red bows in the tail for horses that kick or items such as diamante plaiting bands are permitted.

Seconded. I find the sparkle on hats etc ridiculous. Insult to the horse, turn him out clean, nicely plaited and with clean plain tack.

I pray you don't see what one trainer does to her horses in summer! I know I can go a bit OTT with 1/4 marker decorations but she really takes it too far and it just look tacky! She has yet to discover glitter hoof oil but I am just waiting for the day I see one of her horess with it on ... it's going to happen at some point!

I use 1/4 marks, even out at low level dressage lessons, and autumn hunting mine will have hunter style marks on them. It looks smart and puts a finish to them. If they are 'on show' it is only fair for them to be presentable. But I see no need for glitter, glam, sparkles or matchy matchy colours.

Here is my version of sparkle - achieved with linseed, elbow grease and a hot cloth. A spot of milk in the saddle soap brings tack up nicely. I will save anyone telling me I am boring, old and behind the times - I already know !!

My favourite BD rule!! (Sorry I am odd) My riding club are very relaxed so as long as you’re not taking the Mick it would be permitted (they’ve let me plait up heavy horse style for years, even before the line was added to rule 133).52A774E2-8AD3-4A72-B05E-AD89E8BBE860.jpeg I’ve now got bling dressage plaits but there aren’t enough places to wear them!

He is fabulous. I love to see the heavy horses plaited up with flights, I was shown how to it a while ago but I was useless.

Today I saw stick on glittery hoof covers (like wall paper for hooves)... It made a little bit of sick come into my mouth... I am praying only 7 year old girls are allowed to buy such things

i love glitter , and all sparkly things, i hate tweed jackets, and lovatt jods, and velvet hats, i only like the sparkly ones.

if people want to sparkle i think they should, its a kind of prejudice against self expression.

I have to admit that I have spent rather too long on the internet ogling sparkly browbands for Rose and have le mieux dressage pad and bandages in peacock and fuchsia on my Christmas list, however, I won't stray as far as glitter for her hooves and I think I am way too old to wear glitter anywhere on my body, I'll leave that to the younger set. I am quite keen on this one! Mare is black/v dk bay.roseopal_900x.png

v nice o48, think I said when I came to see her she'd look nice with a bit of bling as she's so dark on her face :)

I have a single strand of topaz/gold crystals on Salty's browband which looks quite elegant I think ;)
I'm not against a bit of bling, I like patent leather on Kira as she has too much hair for a spangly browband. But I am a sucker for an old fangled velvet hat (and will wear my fur felt topper until they are finally banned).

Glitter hooves are for xmas only though, IMO! (and even then only on other people's horses, OH would have a fit if I presented a glittery foot for shoeing o_O) in fairness there are things that enhance the horse and overall picture, and things that are just fancy dress. I can understand the rule for BD totally.

Ooh glad you like it, I am ordering it tomorrow on behalf of OH for my birthday present. I am selling all my more sober kit, bought to compliment Bisto's stunning looks (too many memories) and am embracing the dark world of dressage bling, allbeit on a rather conservative basis. My daughter is buying me the fuchsia set and MIL has bought me the peacock one, I am somewhat reminded of the poem by Jenny Joseph, when I am an old woman i shall wear purple, so that might go on the list too!
