Hoof help - is this the start of WLD?

As title. Is this WLD or am I being paranoid?

No heat or pulses. Hooves are solid, no regular problems or lameness. Horse isn't particularly sensitive to grass, not that we have very much coming through anyway. Mid way through 6 week farrier cycle just now - do I need to call him?

I've no idea but just noticed the same thing with my gelding. He's had no separation for the past 6 months but this last week it showed up. Going to snap a few photos and send to my trimmer tomorrow.

He's not on grass yet, a bit fatty at the moment, but not tender footed at all. So I am interested to see what others say and what your farrier says about your horse.
 
A little, shove a nail in it and see how far up it goes (probably not far).

I'd squirt some sole cleanse at it (red horse) and treat the frog at the same time too. If it's deep enough I'd shove some hoof stuff in too.

The striations do suggest they are nutritionally weak.

Thanks Ester, I'll do exactly that. She's been fed a decent, low cal, balanced diet all winter, so I'm not sure why she could be nutritionally weak, unless that was from last summer when I wasn't feeding her much... Something to think about anyway. Thanks x
 
Could just be some compacted sole and that overlaid bar building up and being ready to come out next trim.
 
Looks like it’s just the start of it, if it’s chalky scrape that out then treat, my horses are going through it as well at the moment.
 
I just got some Red Horse Sole Cleanse, Artimud, and Hoof Stuff delivered today. I used the Sole Cleanse and the Artimud today, so hopefully that will keep things at bay since my horse also has some separation.

Trimmer said to keep and eye, and she's there next week for his trim anyway. She said something about the dry weather perhaps and him growing a lot of sole.

Anyway, I read some reviews on the Red Horse products and they're quite highly rated. Good stuff to keep around I suppose.

My cob hasnt got WLD & never has BUT his hoof wall is showing the same as that up the top - all little lines. Very odd! My WB has had it in the past & Bactakil got rid very quickly once my farrier dug it out.
 
I think mine is due to compacted sole based off of what the trimmer said and some research. I wouldn't be surprised if others start seeing similar looking hooves due to dry weather. It's been dry here, and my horse hasn't been ridden/on various terrain much lately due to being out of work from a tooth root abscess. So I think it's a likely culprit.

Could be the same for your horse @awelshandawarmblood
