hoof issues... can anyone reccomend me something??

You may see some improvements by adding salt 30-50g per day, or if she won't eat that much, add as much as you can. And a mineral supplement may also help; Pro hoof/Pro balance, Equimins META balance or the Forage Plus balancer may be worth a try.

Alternatively you could try just adding 15g per day of mag ox at first, instead of the mineral supplement.

This is probably going to be a really stupid question :o But when you say salt, do you mean like salt from the super market? I would be quite happy to do this, instead of adding more feed to contribute to her weight!

Yep, bog standard 30p table salt is perfect :D.

No need for more feed, the minerals etc can all go in her existing feed (if she's not too fussy, of course!).

One boxy upright foot and one flatter front foot is generally symptomatic if navicular!! Or a frog infection causing contracted heels .There are growth rings whrich show changes in grazing, diet, health, or stress levels. But lots of people seem to b suffering with lami in one form or another at mo. Wot u need to look out for Is when the gaps between the rings are wider in one place then another (usually towards the heels if lami , but if has navicular may put more weight on toe to rest heel)!

Topical applications rarely work and if anything tend to do more harm then good. The hoof is nourished from the inside outward in a one way street unless the horn is damaged and the outer horn becomes brittle.
As already mentioned diet, appropriate levels of exercise and s balanced trim (and shoes if u wish) are key.

Magnesium Oxide turned my late mares feet around, they were neglected while she was on loan as was her diet, resulting in terrible terrible feet and irreparable damage. But the Mag ox did absolute wonders and she had almost normal feet on the outside, hoof quality was amazing by comparison after feeding this, and its pretty cheap, worth a try...

Deaf magnesium.
Please bear In mind for a bare foot horse it takes an average of 9 months for the hoof to grow out completely and ground 3 months for the sole. Generally a shod horses feet won't grow as fast so damage will take longer to fix.
