Ok very silly question, but its the first time I have tried this product and was shocked to see its a cream. Do you apply it to the hoof and frog? Or just the hoof wall, its rather messy or is that just me?

When I used it I just put it on the hoof wall. I like that it's a cream as I don't 'do' oils on her feet - they should be able to maintain their permeable nature! Our farrier recommended it and I think its nice stuff. I just used a hoof oil brush and it went on fine.

The hoof needs oil in winter to prevent too much water being absorbed and oil in summer to retain the moisture within the foot.

Can't for the life of me remember where I got the information from but it basically was saying that to maintain optimum strngth and health the foot moisture must stay at a particular level. Should have bookmarked the page. We always hoof oiled twice daily year round and the horses had great feet.

worked a treat on one mare I had that couldn't keep shoes on. I thought the black version worked better. (probably same ingreds but there u go!) :o
