Well it works in so much as you are putting some moisture onto the hoof every day in this dry weather. But you might have to consider a supplement if your horses feet are cracking still. Can you bathe the hooves on water as this is the best thing of all.

I wasn't impressed. seemed to be very thin and wear off in no time.

Wear off?
It soaks in.... that's the whole point of it... It only counteracts the effects of the dry weather. It doesn't solve poor growth or whatever that you would feed for...
I use it. I think it's ace as I don't use any oil based products with my horses feet. I used it as regularly as I handle the horses in dry weather - just keep slapping it on a couple of times as day or whatever, and it keeps them moisturised nicely. Not as expensive as most products either
I think my farrier says it's the ONLY product he recommends.
If I am riding I put at least 2-3 coats on, 2 before riding and one when we get back and it always soaks in. If my girl is in the field then I will put a coat of Cornocresent (sp?) on as its stays on better in the grass, if not it does wipe off before its had a chance to soak in properly. She is also on Newmarket Hoof Supplement and her feet are looking great [touch wood]
