My farrier always says just use the cheapest oil from the supermarket- e.g. sunflower. The key is to use it regularly to keep hooves moisturised.

I have been dousing with water and then using a hoof balm (Silverfeet and a bit of hedgewitch oil that I've been using for thrush) on top to seal it in, on sole, heel bulbs, and hoof wall - there does seem to have been improvement over 2 weeks

I’ve got a tub of green Effol hoof ointment knocking around so figured it wouldn’t hurt to use it as it’s so damn hot. I’ve been painting it on the underside and outside every day for about a week now and it does at least seem to be preventing his hooves drying out any more than they already are. Usually I don’t bother with ointments but in this weather every little helps!

I’m currently trying out the Keratex hood Moisturiser and Hoof balm. Liking them both so far, but have only been using for a few weeks

Some stuff in a white tub and orange coloured gel that has worked super, Lari's feet look amazing at the moment, I only put it on about every third day.
Haven't a clue what its called but it seems to be very effective.

I used Carr Day and Martin - worked absolutely amazing but never figured out how to apply it without it getting everywhere as it's too thick for a brush and annoyingly sticky with your fingers.
