Hoof picking....

I do it every time I get them in, so four times a week at least. Am I very naughty?

Every time before I ride, and 70% of the time when he gets put back in the stable and I remember

He gets ridden every day

Now it's winter I'll do his feet every night as he has to come up a slightly gravelly track and picks up all the little stones

Every day before we turn them out and again before and after we ride, if we do. Since they have both been unshod it is no bother at all, plus it is beneficial for Ari, who is learning to be groomed and handled more.

I do it every day when I go up to groom Chloe. I also do it after daughter has been out on her. I was told this was the right thing to do. I am rapidly finding out that there seem to be many different opinions on how to do things in the horse world

If you're obsessive I must have OCD !

I pick out when I bring him in from the field, and in a morning before I turn him out !

And he's not being ridden at the moment !

When she comes in from the field because she has clefts in her feet like the Grand Canyon, and before she's turned out or else we drag straw all over the yard.

First thing before she's turned out otherwise I end up having to sweep up 275 miles of shavings. Then again in the evening after Ive hosed her feet off. I do forget sometimes, or sometimes I cant be bothered.

Twice a day, first thing in the morning when I get him out of the stable and then again in the evening when I get him in from the field. If I ride in the evening then I do them a 3rd time before putting him in the stable.

Without fail, before riding. 90% of time after a hack as more likely to pick up a stone when out hacking than anywhere else where I am. Other than that I do little welshie every day after poo picking as she is on starvation paddock and stands in her poo.

Other than that, I tend to pick out 3 - 4 times a week just out in the field (they live out 24/7 and one isnt ridden at all.) Never had a problem with thrush or anything

At least twice a day but often 4 times if I'm up at the yard and riding as well!!

All horses at our yard have their feet picked any time they leave their stable so as not to make a mess on the yard, and they also have it done when they are brought in from the fields.

I will also pick my boy's feet out after riding to check for stones if I've been out on the roads and for bits of rubber if I've been in the school. I am well acquainted with the underside of his hooves, maybe too much!!

As they are out and roughed off atm, then I would say "infrequently"

Oh, and when the farrier trimmed them today he said their hoof condition was fab!
