Horse is rising 3 ish, RSPCA case so came to me with terrible feet. Right fore frog practically fell off his thrush was so bad. I've had him a year now and his feet are very much improved. I did have a different farrier for a while who was letting his feet under run and toe get long, back to trusted old farrier now. I only changed farrier before as I was told by the vets I needed a remedial farrier to correct the horses cow hocks - it did the horse no good!

Any opinions would be gratefully achieved, especially on the right fore as this worries me due to it still being a bit contracted and upright. Farrier says don't worry, they're loads better and that foot is nothing to worry about.

Look good to me, I can see what you mean about RF, just keep lowering the heel height regularly, probably every 3 weeks, I like your farriers work, no evidence of hock issues now. Get him to show you how to lower heels on RF in between trims.

Ycbm, he's sound on the stoney track he has to walk down to the field, but I'm not sure about anything else as he doesn't go anywhere or do anything yet. I see what you mean though :p so yes, his feet seem to be working for him as they are :)

This is the new farriers work (well original, the one who was doing him before I was told to go remedial!) He's managing to fix the horse up great after the other one made a hash of it :) I'm pleased with how horse is looking hock wise, he's definitely standing up more. I just wish I'd never gone with the 'remedial' one, we'd be even further ahead with the corrections if I'd have just stuck with the one I have now.

I see what you mean heel wise, I will ask him next time he's there. I have a rasp so hopefully can keep on top of it. Not so confident about it though, I can round toes but scared of much else!

Well if he walks on stones he looks like he's making good progress :)

For the best feet he can have, he'll need to be doing a bit more work. I find they change a lot when they start working. If you don't back him at three, you might consider taking him for walks like a dog :)

Is there a deceptive bit of mud stick to the right hand side of his right fore? It has an odd dip in it if not.

I did try walking him previous, he is petrified of traffic to the point he shoved me over and ran away. I'm going to get him long reining this summer and try again with me having control from the back and 2 people at his head, but we should get some in hand hacking done on different terrains :) (I did loads of desensitising before taking him on the road but he only showed his fear once we were out there!)

I'm trying to see where you mean with the dip, is it on the side view or front? I hate that foot haha, it does seem to have some flaring on the medial side?

The foot appears to go in before it comes out. If that's not a quirk of the photo, it's very unusual and I would be watching it closely to make sure it's growing out ok.
