I used some hoof putty to help fill a abscess hole and the hole on the inside of his hoof was bigger than anticipated. I filled the hole tuesdays night then turned the horse out for an hour then last night turned him out again for a bit and when I brought him in the putty had gone. I assummed it had fallen out so last night put some more in. Poor lad is lame this morning I think the putty must of gone inside his hoof rather than falling out and he is now sore again.
The abscess had completely cleared and he has been stabled for 2 weeks, he was doing really well. Called farrier and he said to poultice it to draw the putty out to see if that helps. Has anyone else had this happen?
Iam kicking myself for no sticking with the cotton wool and iodine :-(
