I am at the end of my tether with my horse and his feet at the moment

He has very flat feet, his feet tend to grow outwards rather than at the toe, in the last 8 months I have changed farrier and the improvement has been great but he keeps either twisting his shoes, or losing them completely. He is turned out in overreach boots all round.

He has just been on two weeks box rest as he twisted the shoe overnight in his stable and then stood on the nail.

He finally got to go out on Saturday after the farrier had done his stuff, amazingly he came in Saturday and Sunday will all four shoes on, but have just had a text to say he has pulled a shoe off today.

My farrier says his horn quality is great it is just he is flat footed, and he doesn't believe a supplement will help.

Just wondered if anyone else has a horse with the same problem and if they have found a miracle cure they care to share

a suppliment may or may not help.
Shoes are pulled off most commonly in the first week after shoeing when they do the most damage. I ould suggest asking your farrier to completly safe off the heals of the front and toes of the hinds

Thanks Lou.

That is the main problem I think, as his heels are so low my farrier feels he has to have heel support, and obviously that leaves a much higher risk of the shoes coming off. But he has been shod this way for around eight months and have never had this much trouble before.

Speaking to my farrier last night, we will give it one more go, otherwise he will be shod in what he described as a hunter fashion, but he is reluctant because of the need to support the heels.

Ah horses always giving us something to think about lol
