Hi,
My new boy has had a couple of issues with his hooves before coming to us

He is slightly pigeon toed and as a result his hoof wall has crumbled slightly. He came in remedial (sp) shoes to help support the hoof wall but I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a supplement to help with growth and strength. He is on biotin at the moment but I was wondering if I could do anything else to help?

thanks in advance

Formula 4 Feet is very good. I have been using it for about 18 months now. Although the hoof grows from the coronary band so you have to be patient for the full effect, it does speed growth. Also there have been some studies to show that hoof also grows laterally from the pedal bone, so you should see results from a good hoof supplement within a few months of starting to feed it.

A good topical treatment is Kevin Bacon, the one in a tin with a brush in the lid. I don't know how it works, but it does!

My horse left her feed with biotin in it but I have been feeding Healthy Hooves for a year or so now and the difference in her feet is amazing

hi I would have to go with naf pro feet liquid used it on my mare 18 months ago after she split her hoof from the bottom to the top of her cornary band and into the bars vet/farrier said it would take over a year to grow out put her on pro feet the was no sign of the split after 8 months just a healthy strong foot

I 2nd pro feet but I use the powder.

Having tried ALL the various supplements over the years I began to think that I would be plagued by his poor feet for ever.
I saw pro feet and though oh what the hell, I'll try it, I have never looked back, his hooves are so much improved alot stronger and we are now ready for the farrier rather than a fortnightly phone call because he has thrown yet another shoe.

on farrier's reccomendation use horsefirst Hooffirst, has double the amount of biotin than farriers formula.

the difference after one pot is amazing!

I would just use the pro feet on its own, I had tried just Biotin and TBH didn't really see any improvement and I used it for just under a year.

Pro feet has been a god send.

I have switched from Farriers Formula to Formula 4 feet on the recommendation of my farrier.

My horse's feet don't grow much at all without a supplement, and after the fist 2 tubs (about 5-6months) Formula 4 Feet seams to be producing a better quality horn than Farriers Formula did. Growth rate is about the same, but his shoes are staying on better so we can now go 6 weeks rather than 5.

The ONLY thing that has helped my mares hooves is a Biotin compound (I use Equimins)

Formula 4 feet is fab. My mare was put on it by my vet after striking into her corenent band really badly, and it really improved the quailty of hoof, and the hoof grew much quicker too.

I didnt see any results with Biotin, but did with farriers and F4F.

I cant use them now as horse is allergic to alfalfa so he is on seaweed from hilton herbs. Farrier couldnt believe how much hoof he had to trim off for the first time in ages after horse had been on it for only 3 months.

I have had my horse almost a year when I first got him his feet were crumbling and falling about, my farrier actually told me not to buy him because of the state of his feet.
I put him on biotin (2 x scoops twice a day, now 2 x once per day) and I used a product called Equicasts, his feet are fantastic now!
From - no foot at all, cannot have shoes on more than a week, lame straight away and foot sore for ages when he lost a shoe, couldn't do more than 5 mins on hard ground without a shoe.
Now - has been barefoot for 10 weeks or so, hacks out for around 4 hours per week and hasn't been footsore, can hold shoes on for a full 4 weeks now, no cracks or anything.

Although I cannot say which has had more impact he hasn't had the casts on for around 10-12 weeks and his feet are still good so would defiantly recommend biotin (equimins)

My mare has the worst feet ever.

I've tried Farriers Formula and Formula 4 Feet and neither worked on her. Her problemn is her feet are not really growing enough.

My farrier has recommended Pro Feet although I think it works out quite expensive!!

I'm going to just try her on pure biotin and see if that makes a difference over the summer and if not Im not sure what else to try.

I use Naff Pro-Feet and find it fantastic for Athena's feet. She used to have terrible feet and was always pulling her shoes off. Since using this, she's kept her shoes on all the time
