Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a wonderful day!

My name is Tristan McCall, I represent a group of final year business students in Dublin City University, Ireland. We have been tasked with creating a hypothetical new product as part of our New Enterprise Development module. We are exploring the feasibility of creating a new product for the horse sport industry, and have been tasked with researching the market via surveys and interviews.

In particular, we want to know riders' preferences and opinions about horseshoes, hoofboots, studs and barefoot riding and competing.

For that reason, I thought it best to ask the Horse and Hound Forums to participate in our survey and larger discussion here on the thread! You can take the survey at https://dcubusinessschool.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0CerJ0ij7sFKCrQ?Q_CHL=gl&Q_DL=QAwVZ0DPcS7dRvp_0CerJ0ij7sFKCrQ_CGC_6XII7LjLtyovSzt

The survey is only 3 minutes long (no lie, I timed it!), and is completely anonymous also. We hope you will consider completing it for us!

And we would be delighted if you could discuss in the thread below your feelings and issues encountered horseshoes, hoofboots, studs and barefoot riding, particularly regarding competition in any discipline.

Thank you very much for reading this message. We are excitedly anticipating your responses on the survey and in the thread!

Kindest regards,
Tristan McCall

Thank you, I've done the survey
I found it a bit limiting though- eg reasons for not shoeing - I have two barefoot horses who are barefoot for different reasons, but only one answer was accepted
I understand! Thank you for providing this insight. I'll admit, the survey was designed to be super short so that more people would complete it, but that limits peoples ability to respond in detail.
For that reason, if you'd like to build upon your answers or provide additional information which might be relevant, I'm happy to talk about it either here on the forum thread or via email at tristan.mccall3@mail.dcu.ie

Additionally, I am interested in securing online interviews with members of the community for a more detailed discussion around the subjects in the survey. If that would interest you, feel free to respond here or via my email!
Thanks again for taking the survey Cauda! I really appreciate it!

I'm happy to discuss via email. My horses have been barefoot for a very long time now and I have compete up to BE Novice and drag hunted for years on a variety of barefoot horses. I previously compete to BE Novice and hunted in shoes with studs for BE.

Thanks to everyone who has taken the survey, and especially those of you who have volunteered to discuss the subject further! We've gathered over 60 responses, which is unbelievable! The whole team is delighted! I'll be getting in contact with people via the forums and via email today about the possibility of online interviews over Zoom / email.

Thanks again everyone!
