sorry for ANOTHER hoof post.
so basically how do you tell.
ive always thought mouse has dry hooves and have always used moisturisers. but after reading up online...it could be that he has wet feet?
they do crack around the nails...but i think this can happen in dry and wet feet.
also, between the nails there is like a line/indent thing. looks like pressure between the two nails. now THIS i think is the hoof being to soft and buckling almost under the pressure?
also, for the first time ever, the nail is moving!!! it his slipped down and left a large crack. again, i think thats softness not holding the nails.
ive currently just started using kevin bacons hoof dressing, i dont know what type of hoof this is effective for.
any recommendations?
hes always had slightly cracky hooves, i just want them to be naturally healthy, solid and strong without CONSTANTLY having to buy stuff.
theres a cob at our stables with lovely feet......jealous much lol!!

(also considering biotin :) )

manythanks x

I'd be interested in how to tell too as mine has the same problems around the nail holes and I am treating with Kevin bacon too.

I suspect the dry and then wet conditions have caused this, but if they have dry feet, many people recommend standing them in water to hydrate them which is what the weather has pretty much done for us.

Sorry but the best thing to do is feed and supplement as if for a barefoot diet. This will feed the hooves so that they can recover from any stress.

Topical applications aren't going to do much without help from the inside.
