Hopalong's 2010 (MAJOR photo overload!)

MickeyMoo- Thank you, I am sure your good photos are far better than my bad! :) I hope everyone on here has a great 2011 too. :)

OneInAMillion- Thanks, I should have been less lazy and dug that out for BBR! ;)

meardsall_millie- Hope you are right too! My fear is that they say we can do dressage but no jumping!!! :eek: :p

MegaBeast- Thank you, same goes to you with your's.

Aw, that is so nice seeing you and Hopalong - and big thanks to Mr FigJam for his fab photos - having such a ball. You really do epitomise what's great about eventing and if there's any justice in this world I-Hate-Dressage-Hopalong will be right as rain and ready to rock BE in 2011. :D

Thank you BD, that's a massive compliment. (especially from "those who matter"! ;) ) I genuinely mean it when I say I'm in it for fun. I'm never going to be a high-level rider, but I love the sport (especially the XC... had anyone noticed?!) and love just taking part and trying to better our own PBs.

I especially love the social side of it ;) , Mr FigJam can't understand how I can have an 8am DR, be finished by 11am and yet still be at the event so many hours later trailing Hopalong around the lorry park to go chat to people while she munches grass! :D

I so so hope you are also right about Hopalong being back in action for this year.

I love her. :)

I want to make you both love dressage (okay, not loathe dressage) though 'cause you're not actually that far away from a good test. Why do you live so far away?

Fingers crossed for her prognosis and recovery (and a thaw so you can get going with whatever needs to be done).

TarrSteps- thank you also, although you must have started on the NY's drinks early thinking we're on the cusp of a good test! :p I am actually quite happy to admit that (although she doesn't make life particularly easy for me!) our "failings" in between the white boards are pretty much 100% down to me! Until a year or two ago I'd never ridden competitively, just been a happy hacker and the concept of making a horse work "properly" or in an outline just never registered. :o

I would love to see one of you guys (who know what they're doing!) on her doing a DR test as I bet you could get her going really lovely and show me what she could do! Next time you're in Scotland...! ;)

Actually, just to prove it's not all gurning and nose-poking to you-

We can do FWLR (since you're allowed to poke your nose then. :p );

And usually a decent enough square halt (although not always attentive!);

And sometimes it can look ok (although still nowhere near DR diva standard and probably just a lucky timing with the camera mid-head toss?!);

DarkHorseB- Tthank you, I am very lucky to have Mr FJ to tag along with me. I love having all my photo memories. :D

horseywelsh- Thank you and hope you have a great 2011 too! :)

Did I spot a new saddle in those last couple of pics?! And I found the link as I couldn't remember exactly what was wrong so it wasn't your laziness it was my pre-new-years-eve memory loss :rolleyes: :D

Yes- Mr FigJam bought us a dressage saddle for "Christmas" in July! :D (just as well as it would still be unused if he'd made me wait! :p ) So first lot of events were done with jump saddle and fiddling with the velcro blocks to try make it work, then from July onwards were with the aid of the DR saddle. It definitely helps you sit in a better position, put your leg on better etc, although sadly doesn't magically turn us into DR divas! ;)

Can't believe I nearly missed this post!

Fabulous pictures as ever, you and H always look like you are having a blast.

Fingers and hooves crossed from us that there's some good news soon for you, and that you'll be pinging around BE again this spring.

Happy new year to you, H and not forgetting MrFJ too!

Oh dear I'm a bit late to Hopalong's party :p

I still think my favourite pic is actually the Oatridge Novice box fence. If a Disney animator get involved, he'd just pencil in a few springs below her feet and paint Orange stripes on :D

I rode for the first time today in 5/6 weeks. One hack and I'm all fuelled with enthusiasm! How's your school, rideable?

I do think it has made a difference though when you look at the pictures :) Because they sit you where they want you, I think it must help :)

Yes, they definitely don't hinder that's for sure! ;) You have a point, can really see the difference in my leg position between jumping saddle and dressage saddle photos.

daveismycat- Thank you. :) Long time no "see" on here!

Hope you and M are well- is she due to come back into work once you thaw out? I hope to be bumping into you at BE stuff this year too.

:D Hope trailer test/purchase and SJ gremlin-fighting going to plan. ;)

now_loves_mares- Great minds think alike (or fools seldom differ...?! :p ) as I said very similar to Mr FJ when looking at that photo! It does look like she's just bounced off a trampete in front of the fence! How exciting that you got riding, were there fireworks?! Glad to hear you are enthusiastic again. We've had major thawing in the last 24hrs although still some ice lingering in the school. Hopefully the last of the dregs will be gone asap though. Will report back tomorrow to you! ;)

QUOTE]

Santa was kind and got me a new laptop since I managed to kill my old one a while back by dropping it. :S

M is just starting to come back into work, and I jumped her for the first time today since our little xc woopsie. The teeniest little jumps but she was raring to go so I don't think she remembers, phew.

Oh, and trailer test was supposed to be first week of December...

p.s. still love the hedge pic!
