Hope the benefits people sort this one out!

I do not believe his story at all. There are other photos of him with other thugs and he left them to confront the police. No way was he afraid the coward. He is just worried about losing his benefits..and he should if he is not incapacitated AND he can afford football tickets.
 
I laughed when read this. ok his medication and drink "prompted" him to become a thug BUT he remembered to cover face with scarf. you are nothing but a drunken thugh. no excuses please. thug thug thug. :)

Ever considered that his friends might have bought the ticket for him and that possibly he is telling the truth?

Just because you are on an invalid benefit doesn't mean you have to be confined to home for the rest of your life!

It was awful that he hit the horse, those that are scared of horses could easily react in that way.

Considering in his words 'I cant even walk up the stairs' ,he is doing very well to travel 20 miles, drink several pints, attend a football match, then go to the after party and have to first be restrained by friends and then soon after try to attack a police horse. You would also think what with his terrible lung condition he would want to stay away from flares.

He did NOT RUN out of the crowd - he was standing alone when the horse came towards him.

Wether he punched it to be nasty or as a reaction to its presence is another matter
 
^in that case why hasn't he already moved away if he was scared? Why had he waited until the horse was next to him? Even then he could still have moved. There is no excuse to have decided to throw a punch at a horse.

You condemn because he was at a football match and is on benefit.

You condemn because he is on an invalid benefit.

Is he not allowed a life of any sort?

However he was drunk and drunks don't think - to be honest all his mates have moved back and but he appears to be just standing around in a dream.

We think horse and we have to remember that not everyone likes or understands horses or know what to do when suddenly confronted by a large horse.
 
Tnavas, that ITV link has two clips that show what really did happen.

So...he stood proud as punch clapping in a horse's face, stepped towards a horse's rump to push it away, got pulled away by friend but ignored friend. Seems he chose to then cover his face with his scarf right before walking back towards the horse and punching it in the face.

If GIS toothache from a broken filling was that bad, perhaps he should have put the scarf on before he left the house.

His excuses and reasoning is honestly laughable.

There is no defense for his idiotic actions.

Stupid in his actions on the day, even more stupid to come out and spout the drivel of what a lovely man he is.

I don't care about his life, I care that he is clearly a bit of a dick.

As for the thread title, nothing wrong with it...questioning and condemning are two different things.

I don't give a flying fudge if he's employed or unemployed, what I care about is he hit a horse. And obviously if he's fit enough to be at a football match and be part of a riot, then he's probably fit enough to have had a job in the last 8 years.

He stood there and as the horse drew near to him, not specifically towards HIM as a singled out person, he just took his hands out of his pockets VERY CALMLY... not at all panicked and threw a punch.

He says on medication he can't even walk up the stairs... but he can walk to the pub and a football match and punch horses.

No, I genuinely do not think that if you are suffering from an illness which restricts your life so much that you struggle to walk up the stairs, that you would go to a football match, get leathered and then prevoke a fight with a police horse.

I also think that if you know your medication and five pints are going to turn you into a completely unreasonable person you shouldn't drink.

I'm sorry - after watching those two ITV clips I fail to have an ounce of compassion for the guy.
 
Much as I agree with you all (except Tnavas, although I do think you've got a point) I still think it's disgusting that animal rights vigilantes are trying to find out his address/personal details. Leave it to the law to deal with it (not that he'll get any punishment worth the name probably)
 
While I don't object into paying into a system that supports the sick and disabled I do object to supporting people who are clearly quick enough on their feet to throw a punch at a police horse.
A thug is a thug , and that man was behaving like a thug no one forced him to be in a group of unruly brain dead thugs fighting the police over losing a footBall match, stupid does not cover it.

Whether he is on benefits or not doesn't really have any bearing on his behaviour. Some people are yobs anyway, doesn't matter what they do, or don't do for a living.

Joseph Goebbels propaganda machine that is the Daily Fail keeps trying to tar everyone with their own stinking brush, but it really isn't the case.

A few years ago this guy would have been 'educated' about his behaviour, immediately and painfully. Of course the cure was deemed being yobbish, lol.

I agree with you on that but tweets printed in the mail where hardly inciting violence.
 
No excuses for punching a horse. But my husband works in an organisation that supports people with disabilities and service users are encouraged to go out and do things in their communities, be it attending football matches, going to the local rec center, going to a therapeutic riding, the movies, whatever. Just because someone receives incapacity benefits doesn't mean they're on house arrest! And some service users can (often with support) get to football matches and the like, but if you met them, you'd see pretty quickly that they couldn't hold a job. "If he can get to a football match, he can hold a job" is a totally bogus claim. In any event, support services have huge problems with people who isolate themselves in their houses, as their mental and physical health deteriorates rapidly.

Getting pissed, rioting, punching horses, well, those are not good, but have nothing whatsoever to do with being on benefits. I like how the Daily Mail (and this forum) can't resist latching onto that particular issue.
 
^he said he can't walk upstairs. But he can go and riot. This has nothing to do with what anyone thinks about benefits, but the fact he's an animal abusing liar.
 
Caol Ila, I agree with a lot of what you say as I am involved in rehab in the community.

However this man claims his respiratory problems prevent him even walking upstairs.
If this were true his exercise tolerance would not enable him to walk the distances required, especially not with 5 pints in his stomach.
Patients with that severe respiratory problems do not cover their mouths if they are having difficulty breathing, unless there is a cold wind ( he is in a t- shirt).

His statement really does not tally with the video evidence either.

Unfortunately he appears to be dishonest. This type of person really makes life harder for the many truly disabled who need better understanding from the public.
 
He's lying. And how did he get from Morpeth to Newcastle if he finds it difficult to get upstairs? It's a fair little trek. And there are stairs in the stadium.

Regardless of what is wrong with the guy, he's a thug, was drunk and should be punished for being such a tw!t. I'm thoroughly ashamed of being from Newcastle when such stories occur. :(
 
The guy may be a thug and yob, but do you seriously trust the Daily Mail to report his condition and abilities with any remote degree of accuracy or objectivity? I know I trust them about as far as I can throw my horse. I'll reserve such judgment to the people who are actually dealing with the case.

Ok, I'm going to come out and say it - Anyone that is fit enough that they can be part of a riot and fight is fit enough to work and should not be on disability benefits.

People with GENUINE disabilities deserve every penny they get and do deserve to go out and about, to the cinema, to the shop.. Wherever they want. Someone that genuinely was in a position where they required disability benefits would not be rioting.
