Hope the benefits people sort this one out!

No, I genuinely do not think that if you are suffering from an illness which restricts your life so much that you struggle to walk up the stairs, that you would go to a football match, get leathered and then prevoke a fight with a police horse.

I also think that if you know your medication and five pints are going to turn you into a completely unreasonable person you shouldn't drink.

I'm sorry - after watching those two ITV clips I fail to have an ounce of compassion for the guy.

Agree - the two itv clips show a different story. Thug and an idiot for trying to wriggle out of it

Ok, I'm going to come out and say it - Anyone that is fit enough that they can be part of a riot and fight is fit enough to work and should not be on disability benefits.

People with GENUINE disabilities deserve every penny they get and do deserve to go out and about, to the cinema, to the shop.. Wherever they want. Someone that genuinely was in a position where they required disability benefits would not be rioting.

I'd agree with this.

The problem is that nothing in the benefit system is targeted in a proper way.

Wealthy pensioners shouldn't be getting the allowances, pensions and freebee's that appear to come with age.

Why are we handing out child benefit to all and sundry, many people don't need this sort of allowance, it's a waste of money giving it to people who don't need it.

Obviously those on benefit should be capped as well, no way should a benefit lifestyle be more attractive than work.

He's lying. And how did he get from Morpeth to Newcastle if he finds it difficult to get upstairs? It's a fair little trek. And there are stairs in the stadium.

Regardless of what is wrong with the guy, he's a thug, was drunk and should be punished for being such a tw!t. I'm thoroughly ashamed of being from Newcastle when such stories occur. :(

I agree with this a day at a football match is quite a long and exhausting especially when you need to set aside some time for a mini riot .

Very funny, :D:D:D

Not all conditions (being an a-hole aside) are constant or consistent, I have RA and my stair climbing abilities can range from almost normal to having to crawl up on my shins and forearms as all my joints are so agonised. And no I don't get any benefits at all, it is virtually impossible to get them these days however desperately you need them.

I very much hope they sort him out too. Scrounger and liar that he is. There are plenty of genuninely disabled people out there scared stiff at the moment that benefits they really do need are to be taken away from them because of layabouts like this. He should be made to pay back every penny of his benefits and if he can't pay well chuck him in jail.

It is just so wrong that people such as him are able to lie and cheat to obtain money from the state and get away with it for so long. Personally I think whoever said he was eligible for the benefits needs to be looking for a new job as they're obviously not fit to assess whether someone is in genuine need or not.
