Hi guys,

Just thought I'd update you all as you have been so helpful through this.

My new farrier came today. We told him the issues, what the vet had said etc and he set to work. After taking her existing shoes off, hoof testing, trimming and rebalancing her, he asked me to trot her up.

She took one lame stride, the rest were foot perfect, which he said was to be expected on a shod horse, with no shoes on a surface.

He was quite happy to say she hasn't got a broken pedal bone. In his opinion it's the balancing of her feet which have caused the biggest problem and he has asked me to take her off the bute and see how she goes til he visits next week.

I'm really positive, although trying not to get ahead of myself. Even to my eyes she walked out a zillion times better after he trimmed her - so fingers crossed.

Thanks again for all your help and support and kind PMs. It has meant the world :)

Great news! A good farrier is worth his weight in gold so nurture him, feed him coffee and cake and a bottle at Xmas!

My farrier saved our cushings pony from being put down after a bad lami attrack. From standing on three legs, she was practically sound after the first trim!
