Hoping to rehome a dog but...

We have decided to look into rehoming a dog from a rescue, ideally a puppy so it can get used to the horses from a younger age but our garden is quite small it's safe and secure with high fencing but not big at all however the dog would come to work (at a yard) with me every day so it's not like he would have limited exercise. I was just hoping for some feedback on what the chances of being allowed a dog after the home check was done? Thanks :)

this may help:
with cats its :


they ask were here will it sleep at night
is there someone home part of the day
will it be left alone much
what happens when you go on holiday


with dogs i would guess

home must be secure good high fence no where where it can escape
have you a dog flap
do you own the property
if ground floor flat do you have access to the gardens
how long have you lived there
are you planing on moving in the near future
what type of dog are you after
are there children...ages?
do you have cats or the neighbours cats?? as if dog doesnt like cats might be a problem for the neighbour if they have

We do home inspections for English Springer Spaniel Welfare Society * yard-wise we look for secure fencing of reasonable height, 6' or close to it. Size is less an issue as we wouldn't expect the dog to be exercised in any garden, but would expect a commitment to vigorous dog-walking. We did an inspection a couple of weeks ago where the yard was tiny * entirely concrete * had high fences. We ok'd it as the adopters were committed to dog walking ( Grenwich Park on doorstep). Good luck * hope you find something, there are many dogs out there needing homes.
 
Depending on where you are Malibu, I found the Mayhew animal home in north London to be very sensible in their home check and questions about arrangements, so would recommend them as a place to look if you are within reach of the London area.

ie they looked for all boxes to be ticked but were a bit more flexible than eg Battersea, and it felt like they took into account your character and their judgement about your commitment and delivering on what you promised for the dog (since some people have huge gardens but still the dog stays locked in all day/night).

thank you for all your replies, im in devon. Live at home still in a house in a village (so in country) but garden isnt big at all, very high fencing and secure which i guess is more important. he would be walked too have loads of fields around as well as coming to work so would have plenty of exercise. have 2 indoor cats as they have physical problems (from birth) which means they wouldnt always get out the way of cars quick enough but they get along with dogs.
Fingers crossed the rescue centres okay it :)
