horizontal cracks around hooves

My 24 year old has come up with horizontal cracks around all 4 hooves, they are pretty deep not just surface ..looks like the whole hoof could lift away! any ideas anyone please?? his stable mate on same diet has no marks.

I think you may need to put photos up for the experts. I'm afraid. Cracks running right round the hoof are unusual I think.

OP - pictures would be a good idea. Also how far down the hoof are they?

I once had this in extreme when one of my previous horses was bitten by a snake. Putting aside the immediate emergency when that happened, later on all four hooves got deep horizontal cracks, but especially the forefeet. The timing related well to the snake bite.

The hooves didn't fall off, but I did have regular vet advice and I would suggest you might need the same.

One of my mare had that problem but since being diagnosed with Navicular and starting her on the Hilton Herbs NavX all the cracks have gone.

Her cracks were due to a bad blood supply to the foot. She always had good feet and never looses shoes,but there was always these cracks.
