How on earth do I stop my collie from rolling in disgusting things. He has always had a habit of rolling in sheep s**t or fox s**t is even better apparently. He also eats it, God only knows why!!. His latest delightful habit is laying down in filthy puddles and the smell from the rotting leaves is truly gross! Why does he do this and how can I stop him?

Dont ya just love dogs

keep him on a lead?

Or teach him a "leave" command, and improve his recall

wash him in tomato sauce, apparently gets rid of the smell

Collies seem to take great delight in rolling in unmentionable piles, particularly fox poo, which stinks for days no matter how much shampooing/scrubbing you do!
Our collie is a devil for this, whereas our Doberman never rolls in anything.
You have my sympathy!
