Horrible mummy moment in lesson today.

Those moments are dreadful.
CCj aged 10 was on a lesson with a well known local trainer who kept shouting enthusiastically as the pony approached each jump. Said pony hated anything scarey so when trainer waved her arms at him he bolted and swerved at the wall of the indoor school and off flew C smack into the wall. there was an audible gasp from the watching parents and she sort of slid down the wall into a crumpled heap.
She seemed ok and it was years later we found she had damaged her back at the time, now she rarely sleeps through a night and has chiro every so often.
I would get Hannah looked at next week when the soreness has gone by someone like a mcTimoney or a chiro. I wish I had, as it was we assumed because the pain went the next day there was no damage.
Those few seconds are sort of silent aren't they, you can't move or do anything but stay motionless in horror then you run..
My personal guide line is if they make a noise they're likely ok.. if they don't move then I move quickly...
Hope she isn't too sore, have you got any arnica for her?

Every parent's nightmare isn't it? You feel so powerless to help and yet almost have a sense of guilt because you can't do anything for them either. Sorry to hear that CCJ still suffers after effects all these years later. Such a shame.

I really could kick myself because she has, and usually wears, a body protector. Typically, he's never done a thing to even come close to unseating her when she's worn it. She just said she was too hot today and asked if she couldn't leave it off. Lesson learned for all of us with regards to that one!

I did wonder about whether she should get checked out for the very types of reasons you describe. There was too much trampling on her of a shod pony for my liking (and hers I'm sure).

Her left arm seems the most bruised this evening. Bruise starts at armpit and ends up half way down her forearm, crossing more to the inside of the arm than the outside. Bet that's going to look nasty in a few days when the full bruising come out.

The rest of the marks look like huge scratches with small bruising around them. I'm assuming the scratches are from his shoes or the clenches in his shoes. Several on her back and a couple on her chest as she tried to roll over out of the way. She's also got bruise on the sole of her right foot.

Even though she's a bit battered, I think she came off lightly given what I witnessed. She doesn't seem bothered by it though. Hopefully she'll have no lasting mental scars.

Is it so terrible that when she lay on the floor and I knelt down with her cradling her, that I kept looking to Oliver? I was so worried he'd decide to roll again and damage his new saddle. Ended up having to ask the instructor to grab him as I was concerned for his tack.
