I was out and about early today, travelling on an a road in Scotland.
Unfortunately a pony had got out onto the road and had been hit by the car in front.
Fortunately nobody was seriously hurt but the pony was killed.
One of the other drivers at the scene assured me the pony was gone and not suffering...I'm sorry but I didn't want to go over and look.
The accident had only just happened and I just wanted to let the owner know that it was over with quickly for the poor thing.
Rip little pony and I hope the owner will be reassured that the pony didn't suffer.

Are you able to say which area? This is my fear at the moment, we have no gate at our yard- well we do but it doesn’t get shut(don’t ask) and it’s straight on to an a road.

How awful, I get really angry with delivery drivers who leave our gate open when delivering things. I have a notice saying "Please shut the gate immediately after passing through, it only takes seconds for a horse to escape" but they seem to think it doesn't apply to them and usually tell me they weren't going to be long.

That's horrible, so awful for the driver and the pony's owner and very upsetting for you and the other witnesses.

It has brought back memories of my accident a few years ago when I came round a corner on a country road on a dark, wet winter evening and collided with a group of horses that had got loose from their handler. They had galloped for a mile before meeting me and were going too fast for me to avoid them. By a miracle only one horse had a minor leg injury, I was unhurt but my car was a write off. Could have been so much worse. I think the fact that I had slowed right down for the bend and was doing under 30 mph was what saved us.

Oh god that's awful 😢 happened on our yard, it's straight out onto a slip road for a busy A road, the lights along that stretch had been out for months so pitch black.
