Horrid Atmosphere on yard - was I wrong

Witnessed something that our yard owner is very strict about, won't go into too many details, but just to say it involved an off the lead dog and another liveries pony.

I reported this incident to our lovely yard owner, whom dealt with it very swiftly.

Issue is now the dog has been banned from the yard, I am being glared at, the car door/boot is "accidently" being opened just as i go past, or is slammed shut just as i go past. Driving very close to me, now on the lane if I am hacking out, and accidently revving the engine, or speeding off, so kicking up gravel.

If i report again, then will it make me look as though i am picking a fight ? do i video it and send to yard owner, or do I leave it for a week or so and hope it drops off?
 
I’d have a quiet word with the YO and say you like to hopefully let it settle down and not make it an issue.

YO sounds good if they have already banned the dog. Livery might then be under close scrutiny,

Tbh on our yard they would likely be given their marching orders
 
I think a quiet conversation with the YO is in order. Its bullying or an attempt at the very least.
Along the lines of 'I think this is in retaliation of the dog incident and I'm sure it will calm down but I wanted to make you aware that XXXX has been doing xxxx and xxxx since. Im going to get a helmet camera for hacking so i can report to police if xxx carries on the behaviour on the road but on the yard its really starting to make me feel uncomfortable. Would you be able to be around when I'm here at same time as xxx for the next few days. Hopefully this will be enough to settle the situation'

Don't let this drag on act now before you get bullied out of a yard you like.
 
Yes, I'd video it.

Fairly recently I caught something on camera (not a camera on me), but I didn't want to start drama, so I haven't said anything unless I see more. Probably not a good thing to not say anything (like me), and I'd recommend getting this sorted ASAP.

So take video and take action. Especially when it comes to safety matters.

What would be the point of approaching the dog owner? They're obviously totally unreasonable, they're taking out the fact that they can't bring their unruly dog to the yard on the OP when it's their own fault for not controlling their dog.

Video it, you need to, even if you don't use the footage you need it as evidence. You had to report it good on you and shame on the other person. I won't allow dogs on my yard at all too dangerous.

The only reason not to approach is if they are volatile. Sometimes a face to face can be the end of it. If they think they can bully/scare/intimidate etc OP then it will continue to happen. Dealing with it face on may be enough for them to back off. Obviously depends on OP's character if he/she is strong enough to do so. I'm not saying go head on for a fight, but a simple 'Can I have a word' is enough for some folk to back off. All depends on temperaments and character though. I know people that would be too quiet to say anything in that situation, but equally know people that wouldn't stand for it, I for one am not confrontational at all in any aspect of life but they certainly wouldn't be getting away with their 'subtle' but meaningful actions and would be getting asked for a chat.
 
I'm not that handy with my phone to video some random BS, the only way I could see getting video would be wearing a gopro type device front and back. My cell is usually safely in a pocket when I ride. I could never get it out quickly enough to capture any useful video.
 
Your lovely yard owner has needlessly created an issue. Firstly, it's her job to determine the temperament of dogs and people she allows on her yard and secondly, you reported a concern, it was her job to investigate and decide what to do without throwing you under the bus. In fact unless her life lacks drama stirring up issues between liveries generally is a big PITA. Also terrorising someone on horseback is not the act of a reasonable human being and at the end of the day you have to leave your horse there. FWIW I would have spoken to the other livery directly which is probably one of the reasons I'm on sole use.
 
I think there are some assumptions going on in the last few posts. For all we know, only dog owner and OP were on the yard at the time of the incident, which means YO would not have had to mention any names for dog owner to put 2 and 2 together. Also pony owner could not have reported the incident if they didn't know it happened.
Well done OP for looking out for a fellow livery's pony. I think you need to follow a lot of the advice above, get a camera and have a word with your YO before anyone gets hurt.

All the more reason surely for the yard owner to get her finger out and observe this dog's behaviour on the yard? If it's worrying horses then it won't be the first offence and needs nipping in the bud by the yard owner who can/should observe/decide for herself without causing squabbles.

It’s been banned. Nothing to observe.
 
No you were not wrong. The other livery knew the rules about loose dogs, chose to ignore them & allowed their dog to be loose in a field with someone else’s pony.

Yard owner has quite rightly banned the dog to prevent a repeat offence.

Dog owner is now acting like a tantruming child because their actions have had consequences that are inconvenient to them (ie they will now have to leave the dog at home & exercise it separately rather than letting it run riot at the yard)

Depending on your previous relationship of them I’d either have a quiet word with them or if you think that is likely to go badly then try and get video of their behaviour (especially the idiotic engine revving), present to YO and it’s likely they may get asked to leave the yard if they can’t act like an adult. (Just going off the assumption that someone who banned a dog for creating a potentially dangerous situation would do the same to someone who is deliberately trying to spook someone’s horse)
 
It is not on the yard owner, it was going to be obvious from the get go that it was me whom reported the issue.
However I could not ignore the issue as it was too serious not to report it.

Today has been better, as the head girl, commented as she parked blocking me at the mountain block, so we had to reverse out.
