Well after my excited post last week I thought I would be posting a sad one this week. ;) Especialy after the last 8 months of one step forwards three steps back. :(
But I couldn't be more wrong.
On Sat I desided to ride him in the school. I didn't lunge him first I just got streight on and he was as good as gold  He walked on when I asked him to. We walked round on both reins for a while and he didn't even think about napping. :D Had a trot on both reins and even a canter :eek:
He's going to need alot of schooling He seems to struggle with trot and keeps breaking into canter and he always picks up the wrong canter lead. But atleast he doesn't nap and seems willing to go forwards (if only alittle to keen :p)
He had Sun off then on Mon I desided to take him hacking again. He was a little star. We even saw some wild ponies. He looked at them but luckly we wern't to close and I managed to make a detore which he didn't mind :D We continued on the hack without any trouble. We still only walked but i'm so pleased.
Then today I lunged him in walk, trot and canter. He was so so good and he even had a jump. After was the real icing on the cake I desided to try to load him in the horsebox. I led him up to the ramp, he stopped and sniffed it for a moment then he walked streight up the ramp and into the box :eek::eek: He didn't make any fuss. :D:D:D:D:D
I'm so proud of him he seems to be coming on in leaps and bounds. He's realy starting to prove all those people who told me to give up wrong. :D:D:D:D
Thanks for reading. :D

Laura thats fantastic! his progress is awesome! it sounds like he is really enjoying his work and the variation is probably also doing him the world of good.
Well done herbie!

hurray!!!!! well done Herbie! what a clever pony :) I can't believe how quickly he seems to be progressing with your guidance! you're going to have to rename him hero herbie soon ;)

Thankyou jenhunt and skychick. I'm so pleased with how he's coming on. The move seems to have done him the world of good. Maybe he's finaly realised he's stuck with me forever so it's just easyer if he co-oporates :p;):D:D

Thankyou bigfathen.

Thankyou MrsM theres deff never a dull moment with the horrid one :p:D:D

Thankyou Maletto. I also can't believe how quickly he is progressing. I keep expecting him to turn horrid again but he just keeps getting better and better. :D:D

Woosh, what a relief!!!! I was slightly worried he might have been a bit shell-shocked in his new yard and waiting to find his feet to mess about, but he is now officially a GOOD BOY!

Booboos I was worried for the same reason. I though once he had settled in he would start being Horrid but I have to say I'm so glad he hasn't.

Thankyou Suzie86. I'll have a photo shoot soon and post some pics. He is starting to look like a nice little pony now. He has a spark in his eyes and has his ears pricked alot of the time. :D Compleatly different to the pony I took on 8 months ago. :D:D

Sounds like Herbie is finally coming good, how long have you had him now?

I've had him since Nov. Just worked out thats nearly 10 months now. The poor little lad hasn't had consistent work for that time though due to everything that happened with Lucy :(:(:( but i'm now glad I never gave up on him. All the tears are going to have been worth it. :)
