Today took my 13 month old jack Russel+ bitch to the vets for her booster put her on the table vet checked her over etc, tried to give her the injection and said he would need a thinner needle at this point she was getting round up i was trying too calm her down, vet then asked nurse to come in too hold her has well, she got aggressive, vet then tried too get the muzzle on her,no chance,so vet then took her in to the back has he said some dogs where better away from there owners ,he was gone for over twenty mins, when he came back in with peanut ,I asked was she ok and he said yeah just took four nurses too hold her down.
PLEASE can any one give me some tips on how to get to desensitise her,she can also be a bit iffy when you try to clip her nails,I am willing two try any thing,I was supposed to start a training course yesterday with her but personal problems came up so goeing next week.Im upset that she behaved like that and blame myself for it.

I'm not sure from your post what actually went on with your JR and the vets, but I'm sorry to hear it was pretty stressful.

With my two dogs and one cat when they are due to go to the vets for annual innoculations I check them over a few times they way the vet will do, look at their teeth, look in their ears, hold the scruff of the neck etc. where they inject.

Most vet surgeries are happy for you to pop in and get the dog used to being there regularly, best to ask.
Definitely put a muzzle on before you get there for everyone's safety

She got agressivie with the vet,me and the nurse so vet took her in the back to inject her,I will ask the vets if i can bring her in to them so she can get use ti it,she is pretty good at letting me look at her teeth etc but will try and get some one else to have a go has well, thanks for the advice.

One of mine is a complete sod at the vets and has to wear a muzzle. He also wears one while we're out walking sometimes which has got him used to it so I'd suggest you get a nice comfy one and just slip it on her for 10 minutes every now and then, followed by a treat, until she wears it happily and then you can slip it on before you get to the vet. Plus do as you suggested and just take her along to the vets and sit in the waiting room a few times.

Re the nails, mines the same as yours with the clippers too so I got them and some treats and started very slowly by resting them near him, then holding them and letting him sniff, then getting them near his feet and moving them round, then putting them over a claw but not cutting, all the time giving him treats if he didn't react. I can still only cut 2 or 3 claws at a time but at least he doesn't try and disembowel me any more!
