Had the 3 dogs out on Saturday up at Scrabo when a wee lab bitch came up to us. Poor thing was horrendously skinny and very young looking (just a smidge taller than my 8 month lab) she was very nevry to begin with but soon came round and walked to heel with me, enjoying the attention I was giving her. I was a smitten kitten to say the least!
So I decided to take her to the vet and get her checked out for a microchip. Unfortunately no chip. Took her home (vet estimated about 12months old and had probably been starved for a while then dumped) gave her a small feed while starting to phone round and see if she'd be reported missing. Then phone local animal sanctuary and asked if they could take her in.
No was the answer, we don't take strays (
) and asked me if I had anywhere to keep her. Unfortunately I said no, as Beastie was not best pleased and asked what to do. Their advice...let her go again!
Totally horrified by this.
Finally got the number for dog warden who has taken her to Carryduff USPCA sanctuary. Although I have met a woman who said if she is not claimed within 6 days she will go and legally adopt her. I so hope whoever was cruel enough to dump this poor wee thing does not try and get dog back (I called her Raven
) and that this lovely woman will be able to rehome her.
Wish I could take her though.
