Okay well today my horse has begun to act extremely strangely he is usually completely bombproof nothing would scare him at all, firework, storms you name it he's fine. If anything he gets abit tense but never anything drastic. But today I turned him out this morning and as soon as he came out of the yard and into the field he bolted straight off down the field and it took about 10 minutes to catch him, I just put it down to him been ready to go out and been abit eager. However when I bought him in from the field and tied him up out of nowhere he went absolutely insane running round the yard: bronking, bucking, rearing and he even nearly kicked my car! There was absolutely nothing to spook him and like I said he's bombproof! After I managed to tempt him to me with a few treats - which he hesitated at taking (not something he would ever do!) I managed to get him into his stable he started rearing and pawing the stable door like mad near enough climbing it! He is never like this! The pony in the stable next door has a tendon injury and is very ill due to the wound getting very infected, im not sure what stage the pony is at but it is very quiet and out of sorts and I'm not sure what it's chances are. Do you think the pony next door could have anything to do with my horse acting odd or do you it's down to pain or something else?

Pain or a nasty insect bite. My mare was acting crazy last night. I thought she must have something under her fly rug as she was kicking up and swishing her tail. But it was dark so I just lifted the rug and patted around under it. This morning she has two of the most manky ouzing insect bites that are like open sores! If there are any nasty bugs about it can send horses crazy.

We got attacked by a couple of hornets riding the other day and the normally chilled hairy one got so upset he did a rear which is totally out of character, had to jump off end beat the sods away, so agree it could well be insects, they are such a pain! Hope your box ok soon :-)
