horse adverts that just miff you off

Mine is when people say things like:

"7 year old black colt for sale" - ummm, a colt that is 7 years old? REALLY?

"14.6hh pony for sale" - I don't even need to say why that's irritating.

"3 year old schoolmaster, basics in place" - how is it a schoolmaster if it's 3 years old and can barely walk, trot and canter???

"Lovely dressage potential -picture of draft horse-" - just because it can't jump doesn't mean it has dressage potential!

"Lovely jumping potential -picture of thoroughbred jumping 60cm flat-" - It can't jump 60cm and has no jumping talent, but it has potential???

"Your future showing horse -Picture of pigeon toed, sway back, ewe necked horse-" - Once again, I don't even have to explain :L

Its a really common phrase - used alot - but its one that I dont like..... when people refer to their horse as a 'jumping machine' - since when was an animal a machine???????

myn is when i see people standing upright on there backs it makes me that mad i dont look at the horse proper or read the advert

I do find these quite funny. I generally wish to sit on my horse rather than stand so don't really see why this would convince me to buy it!!

No vices although can be bargy to handle.

Pumpkin loves hugs, kisses and relaxing, I don't give a dam about this. These ads tend to forget to mention what pony actually does!

17hh Chunky weight carrier (in reality its about 15.2hh and a TB x)

Adverts with a picture of a tiny child on! means nothing, my sisters mad TB x we could easily get a picture with a kid on, doesn't mean he's good!

I saw a ad the other day which was off a v young tb but didn't say age but 2 yr old max I would say. Stood in a yard with somebody sat on bare back, no hat and no tack. Girl was just lent forward graving the headcollar on one side. I felt that was bloody dangerous and how people can allow those ads on line is beyond me.

I don't like "re-advertised due to timewaster". Having been the "timewaster" once, when the horse in question had napped, reared and then bronced with me (and from the comments from other people on the yard, was well known for doing so), I now tend to view these adverts with suspicion.

I've never tried to buy a horse but I do love looking at ads.
I don't think I'd go for an ad if it had no timewasters, or readvertised. I'm a tiny bit suspicious of "no LWVTB!" Although I can see why someone would put this.

Ads where they don't even tell you the basic things like age and height. Ads saying something has got 'great potential'. A horse has only got potential if the purchaser is experienced enough to bring it out. POA I don't like - would never ring. Also 're-advertised due to timewasters'. If I go and see a horse, don't like it, and say it's not for me, am I a timewaster? Yes, in some people's eyes!

"Perfect horse, no vices, hacks alone or in company, easy to do in every way, needs experienced rider"...what?!!

Ones that don't mention price. I don't want to fall in love with something I can't afford.

Something that's 3 or under that's "done everything!"

Pictures with young kids or even toddlers sitting on a horse with a lead rein or adult holding it. Yes, that's lovely, I could do that with Nutty Ned. Let's see it canter or pop a jump? No, I didn't think so.

Pictures of it just standing there.
I could get a photo of Ned standing there, looking like a donkey, but that doesn't mean he's a good horse.

'Hi, my name is dusty, my owners now too big for me, but i need a really good home, i love carrots, being groomed'...

Adverts that blabber on giving you every little detail that you don't need to know

Adverts without any proper side on confirmation shot of the horse, or one with a saddle on

Adverts with only a headshot of the horse

The caption of "ridden and competed by a 13 year old" with a piccy of a wild eyed young TB advertised as a Schoolmaster always makes me chuckle, when I was a teenager, I would ride anything, the madder the better. If the advert said "ridden and hunted by a elderly lady" then that says more s out been a safe schoolmaster than anything. Not saying elderly people are wimps, just the majority of us have realized that we don't bounce as well as we did as teenagers, of course there are always exceptions to the rule :) :) :)

Ads which say "confirmation" when they should say "conformation"

I would rather a good, stood up confo shot than an action one tbh.

I am constantly amazed at the number of ads (esp in H&H) which don't give the basics of height, age, sex - you'd think H&H would have some sort of proforma to show advertisers what sort of info should be included.

"Home more important than price" ............ so give it to me!!

"Mothers Dream" ................you obviously don't know what I dream about :D

"100% in every way, lovely boy with a quirky personality" ...........tanks off with you when lead to the field!

The list is endless

The list is endless

Hmm I must be very tolerant as most of the examples mentioned in all the posts above don't bother me at all. Most of the things I can see beyond. There really is only one thing that irritates me and that's when people write that if the horse does not sell then they're taking it to auction/slaughterhouse. That immediately makes me move onto the next advert as I can't be doing with emotional blackmail.

I do like looking at horse adverts - not many of them actually bother me, just make me laugh!!
I like to think how things COULD be interpreted...

"quirky personality" - bonkers

"needs competent rider" - as above

"steady, calm ride" - unresponsive

"POA" - far too much £££ for you - or anyone!

"LWVTB/part-loan/sell/loan" - anything, just get rid!!!!

"sold due to change in personal circumstances" - discovered boys/haven't got time/money and prefer to spend it on new sports car

"13.2hh, rides like a 15hh" - does brilliant giraffe impression

"placed every time out" - been out once in a class of 2

"13.4hh/14.5hh etc" - I'm sure there's a bigger market for ponies....!

Of course, these are just tongue in cheek remarks and I'm aware that many will have appropriate reasons etc, of course not everything above is true!

I will never again believe the phrase: "won't tank off"...!

But my pet hate regarding adverts is when the seller puts the wrong contact details:mad:!
