Horse and rider die in road accident...

GRRRR!!!!!!!!!

One of my friends lost her horse to a traffic accident about a month ago. The driver said he 'couldn't see because of the sun' but still managed to hit the horse at 40mph. If you apparently can't bloody see, why drive so fast!!

RIP to everyone involved - an accident that could have easily been avoided

Jesus, he must have been going some to kill a horse outright! Bloody selfish idiot. Shame horse didn't land in his lap in the van and kill him too!

I'm sorry for your friends loss, i can't imagine losing a horse through a crash.:(:(

Horrendous. Totally appalling and tragic. My previous horse and I were hit by a car. So frightening, could have been worse. The driver got off. My heart goes out to those involved.

OMG poor family of the rider!!

Sadly it the reason I will never hack on the roads again, my horse is a saint in traffic but still will not risk it.

RIP both rider and horse and so many wishes for rider recovering, poor rider is going to really go through it !!

The driver in our accident is being charged with dangerous driving. Goes to crown court next month. I dont know how I am going to stomach it if he gets off.

Thoughts are with you Benson, it must have been a recent accident if it's only just going to court.

I wish the Government would run a campaign, the same way they do for Bike riders

I think this too...not enough done.

i've added the link to FB and put some words of my own on it too to try and get the point across......something needs to be done.

Benson - here's everything crossed that he doesn't just get a slap on the wrist....my thoughts with you x

RIP to Rider and Horse, this is not far from me at all and truly is scary, when there are drivers who seem to drive around with their eyes closed.

I hope that other rider recovers soon :(

OMG how absolutely tragic.........I live in Brentwood and used to keep George stabled near where the accident happened and the road there is in a 30mph limit, although a bit further up it becomes 60mph and you have to ride along it to connect with 2 bridlepaths.

I know a few people with their horses stabled close to there, my goodness I hope they are all ok.

Thoughts to all of those involved and their families :(:(

sadly the roads at the moment are too dangerous to ride on esp the country lanes ,with many drivers having sat nav the rural roads have become rat runs, unless there is a law passed that says if its a B road or less the driver/rider of any wheeled vehicle is automaticly at fault for any accident involving a pedestian or animal... other wise its not worth risking your or your horses life on our busy and dangerous roads...you are very likely to have an accident it's just not worth it....
