Does anyone get this drivel?
I have cancelled my subscription I am so incensed about how dumbed down its become. It used to have really informative articles but I am sick of reading about how to hack better every month. This months issue has driven me beyond what i can bare. Ropey old riding school nags doing serpentines badly and being totally on the forehand, treeless saddle, how to hack again, how to cope with nerves through eating yet no techniques for on the day. They used to have good articles that interested me and were helpful and now its a pile of poo.
 
I used to buy most of the horsey monthly magazines but stopped eventually for the very reasons you state!
I didn't like the 'happy clappy, fluffy bunny' way they all seemed to be going either, it really started to get on my nerves after a while!
(This might just be me though! lol)

Every month I would sit there making comments such as 'total cr*p', 'what a load of rubbish', 'ridiculous' or 'Oh, for God's sake!' & one day my OH just said 'Why do you actually buy these? '

I buy them occasionally but usually find them pretty basic in terms of the information. I think they are great for novice riders who want to learn about keeping a horse or riding etc but once you become more experienced I dont think they teach you much.

I prefer the horse and hound articles although sometimes the vet ones go a bit over my head!!

I had a really old issue of H&R and the articles were fantastic. Now the "ask the experts" and natural horsemanship articles take up nearly the whole magazine, and £3.50?? Bit of a rip-off for practically the same articles in every issue.
What really irritates me is Pony magazine. They claim it is a horse magazine for teenagers, but once I was about 13, it seemed a bit childish

and the articles in there are awful,again the same ones each issue.

Exactly the same reason I wouldnt buy it in the first place. Mum used to buy Your Horse until i said how crap it was.
I do enjoy Horse Magazine, did you see Snoops great pic in it again this month LMAO!
 
I find Your Horse far too basic and full of ads/clothing/gear reviews....
I had been really enjoying Horse & Rider - Finding some imformative more advanced articles. But this month I flicked through it and TBH I wondered if I had been sent the right magazine? Full of basic stuff/stuff of little interest.....

I stopped buying Your Horse when I wrote to the Editor and got a rude response which I think was a comment on my e-mail intended for someone else but she hit the reply button instead of the forward button.
 
I read the mags in the supermarket. Doesn't take long to read the bits of interest. Horse & Rider used to be better and I bought it regularly but that was more than a year ago.
 
Don't bother anymore with the Horse mags in this country they're all the same,dressage eventing and showjumping.
 
I used to get Horse magazine but even gave up with that eventually. They all seem to repeat the articles at some point and are frankly a waste of money.

Have had much better advice and information coming on here and it's free!!
 
I used to get Your horse on Subscription and then it became really boring and I changed to Horse and rider. However since I started getting it the darn thing has become pants!

It takes me approx 30 mins (if not less) to read it!

I will be glad to see the back of it to be honest.
 
Oh definitely! The advice on here, or from a knowledgable person you know in real life, is so much more useful and interesting. And at least on places like here, there are different opinions on so many things, so you are getting the opinions of a much wider variety of people

Stopped getting any of them as I found they were mainly filled with adverts for about 70% of the pages and then the other 30% were articles on parelli, hacking with confidence and the best stirrups on the market

And I don't even have my own horse, but yet find them infruiating to read. Give me a copy of Eventing anyday
