I recieved the following message today. I feel it's too serious to be posted in the Stolen Horses etc section and would be more widely read here. It's a bit garbled but I'm sure you will understand.

Sorry if the typing goes a bit funny, I'm extremely worried and shaky.

In reply to the thread started by loads carrots-- as I work in Rokers feed shop in Guildford I have the facts that stand as follow;

*1 foal, 1 mare, 1 stallion shot in Ash, Hampshire (about 3 minutes away from my horses) mare had to be put down immediately, foal and stallion currently fighting for thier lives.

*1 horse stabbed in Normandy, just 5 minutes away from me.

*1 foal suffocated with a plastic bag over his head and his head bashed in, Ripley, just 10 mins away.

These details come direct from my customers, and are now being broadcasted on Surrey and South east Radio and local stations.
 
Jeeez, the last bit about the foal makes me go cold. How horrific and sickening.

I am glad that my horse is a grumpy mare who lives out and refuses to let strangers anywhere near her, even for food.

How horrible. I feel sick! There are some nasty people out there. I hope the poster can somehow protect her horse, keep them in with people around or something.
I really feel for the owners of the horses that were attacked.

My heart goes out to those poor owners... losing a horse is always a horrific experience but I cant even imagine how they must feel after this. I sincerely hope these people are caught asap

Just a thought I had after making my post above. But we seen to hear of these attacks with increasing frequency

But does anyone ever hear of people being arrested or charged with such offences?! I've never heard/seen in local press of them catching someone for this sort of thing.
 
i've heard a similar story about a horse that was attacked regularly, it was found in the feild next to it's mother that had had its blood drained before having it's side cut open. a few months later it was found with shapes carved into it and injection tracks in its neck from where it had blood taken.
those sort of people are just sick. i couldnt imaging going near anything and thinking about killing it. how people can find that behaviour normal is just totally messed up!

there was a similar story in last months horse magazine, the horse had shapes carved into his skin was doped and sexually abused another horse in the same field had blood drained from it and its stomach cut out. frightening stuff my heart goes out to all owners affected by these attacks
 
i read about that! what a great mag that is. even if it is a nasty topic it's good to let people know about it.

Why does this happen???

What on earth possesses people to do such horiffic things to such gentle creatures!!!!

What can they possibly gain from doing this????

Sickos, am furious and very concerned for everyones horses
 
Thank you for taking the time to post such warnings...please take care over the next few weeks and I sincerely hope it is a one off. How terrible, my thoughts are with the poor owners.
