Hi All,

Wondered if anyone can help, my horse got kicked in the knee 2 weeks ago today whilst in the field. He was completly sound so just carried on as normal however the knee did swell, so cold hosed etc.

Took him sj last Sunday and he was running out (something he has never done) anyway last Tuesday i got him out to ride and he was lame in trot and not in walk. He knee was more swallen than before and the whole leg was warm.

So he has been in ever since, just out 3 times a day to cold hose. The leg is ice cold and no swelling but the knee is still slightly swallen but also cold. The only area of the leg that is slightly warm is on the inside of the leg above the knee.

He has had no bute/painkillers.

Just trotted him up and he is 100% sound in the walk but lame in the trot :-(

Im now worried he has done some serious damage or could it just be the bruising form the kick but feel strange he wasnt lame straight away?

Thanks

You should really call your vet, you don't know what damage has been done (if any) and if you have an honest horse they will just carry on until they can take no more.
