hi all hope everyone is well and coping with all this sunshine!(joking)

so my lovely boy has turned into a not so lovely boy!

his last owner did tell me tht his behavior in colder weather can be pushy and bargy but this is deffintly not the case!!!

he is now actually quite aggressive towards me i have no idea what has happened but he has gone from a cuddly softy to ears back and teeth out if i go any were near him which is turining into a bit of a nightmare what with rugging and feeding so much now..

the big thing is that is has totally knocked my confidence to the point that i just dont want to be around him and i no this will not be helping because he will be picking up on it

i have no probleme with my friends horses and other people seem to be fine with him not great but most of the aggression he seems to save for me (paranioa) lol

so i was thinking about getting a therapist out because there is nothing wrong with him ailment wise teeth and back fine, totally sound , nothing else there at all

what does everyone think and deos anyone else have a simmilar experiance with there horse and what did you do?

thank for all those who got through this long i no x

I wonder whether he's got ulcers if he is has started biting when being rugged? That's one of the signs.

Make sure you are wearing a hat at all times and I'd get someone like an Intelligent Horsemanship Recommended Associate out. Or someone local recommended to you by people you know and trust.

He's trying to tell you something, it's just trying to work out what it is...

thanks ishmad i hadnt thought about that but iv spoken to the vet about it all and they said there doesnt appear to be anything physicaly wrong with him hes still eating and eyes are bright coat healthy weight healthy i really do think its a behavior thing! but i will deffianlty be mentioning that to vet and see what they think i think im going to get his bloods done and see if that throws up anything!
the main reason i think its a behavour thing is because it seems to be mainly between me and him as hes not amasing but alot calmer with other people!

Do you have an instructor or anyone around you who can help you but not do it for you?

Most people think instructors will only help with actual riding but honestly most of my clients have had a confidence / handling issue in the past. I have one lady who for months used to pay me to walk along with her on a hack because her horse spooked once and put the wind up her. In theory I was there to give advice but actually she was more than capable and probably just talking to me helped keep her breathing and calmer :-)

Only an idea but nothing worse than being stuck in a situation that isn't improving. If you can't be actually confident then learn how to fake.

On another note just be careful what you are feeding him. My old boy is completely intollerant of mollasses (which is in most darned feeds) and ends up bouncing out of his skin. Feed as much fibre as possible and only for his workload.

Hope this helps :)
