As title suggests looking for help on diagnosing behaviour changes in my 5/rising 6 yo. Had since September but noticed recent changes in his demeanour. Seems to be quite unhappy whilst being handled - ears back most of the time, nipping a lot and started napping when wanting to hack out. I'm wondering if the napping is a confidence issue and the ears back/nipping possibly pain related - having his back checked soon as have noticed unhappy on the right rein.

Anything by Marthe-Kiley Worthington, particularly 'the behaviour of horses,' she may not be very conformist but is very eye-opening and will help you look at things from a whole new perspective. Also Lesley Skipper is very good. There are some others but I can't remember them right now. Most of the good books will also recommend other ones to read too.
