my friend is finding extra fed buckets in her horse's stable when she arrives in the morning, this maybe the cause of her horses's difficult behaviour when riding, has anyone expierenced this and is there anything you can do

No I have never had that problem before. Do people on the yard think the horse needs extra feed?? if the horse is in good condition I would put a note on the stable door saying please don't feed. By over feeding the horse is a risk.

Wow I would be so mad! I guess the first thing she needs to do is talk to the BO and report the situation to her/him. If one of the grooms is feeding her without knowing better, then talking to the BO should suffice. If its someone else it might be harder to get a handle of the situation.... Try sticking a warning in the horse's stall saying something like "horse should not be given any food without owners permission due to health risk". Something to scare off people. Other than that, switching facilities may be her only alternative.

She should just talk to everyone on the yard to find out exactly what is going on and why. until then she should also put a sign on the door stating this horse should NOT be fed extra feed

What is a BO? And is your friend on part or DIY. If someone else is feeding it could be feeds from the previous night..or someone might be feeding the wrong horse in the morning!

Yep, barn owner. I don't think it really matters whether the horse is on DIY or full board, really. If the owner specifies horse is to be fed x amount of y feed per day, then thats what the horse should be fed.

I am on full board and I never had any issues with somebody feeding extra feed to my horse.

Feeding someone else's horse is one of Horseydom's most serious sins - so yes sign on the door and on notice board if there is one - Do Not Feed any horse unless it's yours!

DANGER! FEEDING THIS HORSE MAY SERIOUSLY DAMAGE YOUR HEALTH - IF I CATCH YOU!

Just put a sign on the door, either stating the horse is under veterinary care and on a strict feed regime or stating the horse has allergies.

Dee has an allergy to haylege, she gets very poorly at the slightest amount, i put signs up....someone ignored it and it took me 8 weeks to get her stomach to settle again

We chuck extra hay to one with teenage owner as she leaves it 2 slices mid afternoon then turns up sane time next day. It's about 16hh and not exactly heavy. Would never give anything hard feed or even give hay to someone responsible's horse in case there was a reason.

Spotsrock, I'm sorry but I just have to say it. You have no business giving anything to someone else's horse without them asking you to, regardless of how irresponsible you think that person is. If you are concerned about the welfare of the horse, then just contact one of the many institutions that deal with it. Or better yet, talk to the horse owners, explain your point of view and stay out of it!
