Oh no, its so awful isn't it? Was it a heath issue or suitability?
He failed I'm so so gutted. Back to searching
A health issue sadlyOh no, its so awful isn't it? Was it a heath issue or suitability?
I totally feel your pain! Still better to waste a few hundred now than find out about something later on that might end up costing thousands. I hope you find something suitable, its really soul destroying isn't it?! Fingers crossed for us both! XA health issue sadly
It really is. I don't want to remove the emotional aspect of horse searching as it's that connection that is so important, but I'm starting to feel myself looking at these horses as objects and not letting myself feel anything.I totally feel your pain! Ah disappointing but obv not the one. As a general observation, given the high prices I wonder if vets are being super cautious with vettings.
I know what you mean. I have one today and one on Sunday and am also wobbling!I'm sorry, I've had two fail since beginning of November and I am supposed to be viewing another on Monday and I keep having a wobble about it, because I'm so worried he won't pass the vet even if I do like him

That's right they either are suitable for intended purpose or they are not, they don't seem to pass or fail now which I think leaves those who put deposits down on horses very vulnerable to losing them. I think wording needs to be very clear...personally I hate the whole deposit thing for this reason!I didn't think vettings were 'pass or fail' anymore?
When we were looking last year, the vets were very clear in saying 'this horse would or would not be suitable for the intended purpose' - so the first one we didn't get past the two stage before the vet said categorically not suitable. The one we ended up buying, the vet mentioned a couple of things which he thought were fairly minor and said in his opinion the horse was definitely suitable for what we wanted. Annoyingly the insurance company has slapped exclusions on for the things he mentioned despite him saying he didn't think that they would warrant exclusions but hey ho.
So far the horse (touches massive piece of wood) has turned out to be a hardy little thing and is very happily doing exactly the job we wanted with scope to go a lot further (horse gods willing ...)
Absolutely i keep telling my 7yr old that but her heart gets broken every time! I refuse to proceed with anything till she's tried it, I know some parents do buy unridden but that's not for me xYou have to try not to get emotionally invested in them until they pass .
It’s just so hard .
That's wonderful, so glad you found something!!! ?I hope you both find something! It’s heartbreaking isn’t it? I had 2 fail vettings earlier this year and was so fed up afterwards, thought I’d never find anything! If it gives you any hope, I did eventually find my “one” who passed with flying colours, and 6mo on is proving himself to be everything I could have wanted. They are out there!
This is so lovely! 3 more to see this weekend which will bring me up to about 15 viewings, 2 who had second viewings, 1 failed vetting.I hope you both find something! It’s heartbreaking isn’t it? First pony, 12.2-13.2hh ish, daughter can ride off the lead rein (walk trot canter) but needs to be sensible! I know I'm searching for the golden egg! ?What sort of horse are you looking for?
Ah that's a shame, my daughter is tall so I think we can't go smaller than 12.2 really. Thank you though ?I have a golden pony but not quite big enough for you she is a section A not quite 12 hh
not sure where you're located, saw someone in Oxfordshire advertising a 12.2/3h pony this week who was used in a riding school, has been to PC, etc. 17 years old. Not sure if it would go as a first ridden, but maybe worth a look if you're in that area and the pony meets your criteria. May have been sold by now though.Ah that's a shame, my daughter is tall so I think we can't go smaller than 12.2 really. Thank you though ?
