Following on from Puccis thread, I thought I would be brave and post a comp report! But since I am no great shakes at eventing, dressage or SJ (although I'm trying hard), it will have to be another horse boarding competition report!
Round 2 of the Championships was held in the gorgeous showgrounds of Malvern at the three counties show. We had some new combinations taking part, with Frank the Tank having a new hardcore boarder in the shape of Po, Dead Pigeons replacing their rather over excited TB with a gorgeous little ex games pony. Wild Thing had a new pilot, stolen from Ginja Ninja (due to Ginja Ninjas boarder being broken and the horse being another who was sent home in disgrace in round 1).
But yet again Team IHorse took an early lead in the points, losing just one race and having one tack malfunction, the smaller ponies just struggling to match the top speeds hit by Rohan. On day 2, Frank thundered up the leaderboard, shaking the ground as he took race after race and giving IHorse a close run for their money. Heavy rain on day 2 made for an exciting board ride as the boards skidded and snaked merrily along the track. We also did a demonstration in the main ring which was VERY wet! The poor boarders not only had to cope with mud flung up by the horses but also a muddy powerslide at the end of each race (although I have a feeling that after the cattle parade it wasn't just mud they had to contend with!)
Day three dawned with boarders and horses all a little tired (competitions are usually only 2 days) but with competitive spirit high. Points for the final knockout stage dictated that Dead Pigeon and Kold Rein would race for 3rd and 4th, and Perfectly Frank and IHorse would fight it out for the final. After some intensely close races, including one dead heat, Perfectly frank took the title and the 6 points to carry forwards to the Championship.

IHorse Vs Kold rein (my aerodynamics are ruined by riding in a trick saddle with massive spike pommel so i can't get low over him!)
Team Perfectly Franks powerslide
And IHorses boarder crashes through the fence!
This last weekend brought round three in Wolverhampton, with Rohan, my mount from Ihorse giving Frank from Perfectly Frank some trash talk in the paddock for the last three weeks. Rohan was out for payback and to win his title back! What he didn't take into account was Dead Pigeon, who brought yet another horse...and I imagine they will stick with this one....he flew! We also had to take on the Scottish contingent, who brought two horses down to contest the title. Sadly, one of their teams, Team Nonsense, lost a boarder in their first races against IHorse when their boarder decided to apply the brakes with his arms outstretched, rather than sitting back and down. One trip to the hospital later and he returned with a dislocated and fractured wrist wrapped in plaster!
The ponies of Kold Rein and Team Spare gave a great account of themselves, whilst Frank seemed slightly off form against the mighty Dead Pigeons TB, who hit a top speed of 36.4mph. Wild Thing had an erractic time, with miss Emma being a wild child at the start on occasions and whipping her boarder off the board, but when they did get off the start she found an extra gear from the last races and chased down the opposition with incredible speed.
IHorses' boarder literally 'tore himself a new one' during a couple of crashing stops, managing to tear through 3 layers of clothing! But we still managed to stay at the top of the leader board through to the knock out stage. Rohan was filled with fighting spirit and was racing his heart out in every race, there was no chance he was letting anyone past him!
The final came down to Ihorse Vs Dead Pigeon, Dead Pigeons horse was younger and faster but Rohans aggressive edge made him work every single stride, and each of the three races ended in a photo finish. Video evidence showed IHorse to have taken one race but Dead Pigeon just taking 2, making themselves winners of round 3!
The final races, so close:

Top speed went to IHorse topping out at 36.7mph thanks to Rohans gallant effort and Dans ability to whip the board out in the final stages to gain some extra speed.
Congratulations to all involved! Round 4 is at the Wiltshire game fair in August.
