Horse book recommendations

I love a good book but can never find any horsey fiction aimed at adults. I loved reading all the pony books as a child (in fact I recently re-read the Jinny and Shantih series and still loved it!) There seemed to be a never ending supply of these pony books but I can't seem to find much aimed at grown ups.

I recently read If Wishes Were Horses by Susanna Forrest which was brilliant and I read the Horse Whisperer a while back which I also enjoyed. Can anyone reccomend something similar or should I resign myself to purchasing some old pony books from Ebay for a bit of nostalgia

I picked up one of Dick Francis' novels whilst on holiday and I absolutely loved it. I'd definitely recommend anything written by him - I'm currently on the hunt for more of his books myself.
 
Definitely Fiona Walker and you can follow a lot of the characters through different of her books so a bit like a series. There's also Lyndon Stacey (I think) who is similar to Dick Francis. Be sure to get the older DFs, they were brilliant, they don't seem as good once Felix started writing with him IMO. In The Pink is a good read about two sisters hunting; even more interesting when you know who some of the characters are based on, lol!
 
I don't think anyone really captures the real obsession and joy of being around horses better than KM Peyton. Granted the books are aimed at younger adults in the main, but she knows her stuff. Books can be a bit samey in themes, but she is a great storyteller. A lot of her back catalogue is quite cheap on kindle.
 
Carolyn Banks has written a series of murder mysteries set in the horse world. First is called Death by Dressage.
You might also like Christina Jones, sorry can't remember the titles.
 
John Francombe writes a good yarn - a bit like Dick Francis. Jenny Pitman did a trilogy set in an up-and-coming NH yard, titles escape me, but they were a very good read. Also remember one called Kiss and Tell by Fiona Walker - similar to Jilly Cooper type bonk-buster set around Eventing.
 
I absolutely loved The Horse Dancer by Jojo Moyes (East end of London to the Cadre Noir at Saumur) and Led By The Grey by Peter de Cosemo (Kings Troop horses in London).

Also on my Kindle, I have got Walk, Trot, Die by Susan Kiernan Lewis and four Kit Ehrman books (all murder mysteries), then once I have found a book on Amazon, I tend to follow my nose through the "you might also like . . ." and "other customers who bought this book also bought . . ." lists. Using this technique, I discovered the Racetrack Romance box set by Bev Pettersen and Chantilly Dawns by Lissa Oliver, which were OK reads.

Jane Badgers website also has a section about books for adults and news about what horsey books are due for publication in the next few months, which I find useful.

I love both Polo & Riders by Jilly Cooper & the Fiona Walker books.

Have just finished Ambition by Natalie Keller Reinert which was very good.

Karen Mcgoldrick is very good too.

A Stable Life by Harriet Kent was fairly good too.

If you like Fiona Walker then Jo Carengies books are very similar (I really liked these too)
