Can anyone recommend any horse novels worth reading?

Lyndon Stacey is very good. John Francombe, Dick Francis, Jenny Pitman are all good too.

Thank you, I will take a look now. I've not read many novels.

I've just read the one dollar horse, it wasn't bad. But I think its more for teenagers, I read it in less than a day, but I'm still going to read the rest of the series .

Jenny pitmans serious are addictive so beware !! Haha

I also loved secretariat, it's a bit slow to get into but fantastic once it starts

I also just enjoyed Amanda Will's book I pretty sure these are for teenagers but I found them fun easy reads

If you're open to trying something non-fiction try Jeremy James books on travelling with horses. His Byerley Turk which is fiction but based on known facts is also good.

My mother and aunt were raving about a horse book they read years ago - Tschiffely's ride. It's about someone riding from Argentina to New York, in 1925, 10.000 miles on his two criollo horses. My mother thinks she has it somewhere and will lend it to me.

I read a couple of the Jenny Pitman books and couldn't stop picturing the main female character as Jenny Pitman which was weird.
