My friend, whose wagon I share, uses South Essex Insurance Brokers breakdown service which is part of her insurance for the lorry. Im sure thats what they are called. We had to use them once for a tyre blow out on the motorway, they were excellent, kept us informed of the time of arrival and made sure we were ok - we had 3 horses on board and it was pouring down with rain. Cant fault them.
We had one trip from Kent to Cornwall that we thought we were going to have towed home as the clutch was kaputted on the lorry. Luckily we were going home empty, and so managed to get the lorry all the way home by doing minimal gear changes... (think doing all the roundabouts along the A303 in 4th gear...
)
So we didn't have to actually call out - but I did speak to them several times on the trip home, and they were very helpful, and they did offer some suggestions for a mechanic that dad could talk to, to see if he could fix the problem on the way home (dad used to be a mechanic, and so if very useful when the lorry is being tempremental!!)
We do the insurance and breakdown through Anthony Evans - and I think it is quite reasonable TBH.
Anthony D Evans again here. I've had occasion to call them out once for a minor problem & they sent out a mechanic & breakdown truck which was with me within 40 minutes. Problem was sorted out then & there. I was happy with the service.
thanks guys AD seems very good, will give them a call tomorrow, as it wont do me a quote... im the owner of the lorry but will only be hubby that drives it!
Ours is thorough www.horseboxworld.com (Equine Rescue services), more expensive than AE, however, read the AE small print, there is a reason why they are cheap. Do you want your horses towed on the back of a wrecker?

Can I just say your relentless stealth marketing is getting quite beyond a joke. Or is it merely coincidence that every single one of your posts mentions Horsebox World whose address just happens to be:
Suite 1 Trentfield Farm
Church Laneham
Retford
Nottinghamshire
Dn22 0NJ
It makes a mockery of a) the no advertising clause in the Ts&Cs you signed up for and b) the genuine recommendations made by people on here who don't have a vested interest in a company when you persistently do this without revealing your link to the company in question. It's a shame as the site looks good, but I am entirely put off using anything provided by you due to your underhand tactics used to promote it on here.

to be honest reading this, then looking through the other persons posts prevents me even looking further at them., if you need to advertise that hard theres something wrong (although i appreciate everyone needs to advertise.) further more i struggle to find good reviews about them.
Possibly of more help to you OP - I have my lorry insured with Shearwater and use the breakdown cover they provide. I've had to use it a couple of times for tyre changes and the service has been superb both times - back on the road within an hour of making the call. They were also great when I signed up as normally 1 horse will be moved in a trailer - my horse won't travel in a trailer, so they were happy to accomodate this through finding someone who'd do a fixed bar tow (so horse stays on my lorry and it is towed all wheels on the ground with a fixed bar).
Will only recommend Equine Rescue Services-you horse will be put on a HORSE TRANSPORTERS lorry always!
ERS advertise in HH

I use ERS and they are amazing, my lad is 18hh so doesnt fit in most wagons (mine is made to measure) so when we broke down and had to be towed home they sent out a wagon big enough to fit him in and they did 2 drop offs because i had a friends horse with me (different yard) they couldnt have been more helpful.
