Bedford Owl horse lorry, item 120566877689 - sorry to thick to link directly to it. How cool is this lorry ? Imagine it all done up originally on outside and ultra modern inside. Wish my husband was useful. Or am I just strange ?

There's a fully restored Owl used near me, it looks fantastic! If I had the time and money to put something else on OH's project list I'd have a punt on that, as my yard is in the LEZ and petrol lorries are exempt! Plus it would have free road tax..... hmmmm!!

I'm trying to figure out how the horses go in it is it side load so they face backwards and walk out the back?

Is it for 3 hourses?

So difficult to tell from the pictures but I agree that could look wow done up.

wonder what the max load is it could take.....restored obviously

Hmm now hubby has sorted my landy out and restored an old 1972 MG for me...wonder if he can be persuaded ;)

I LOVE it! Imagine it fully restored to its former glory with a new engine and gear box to make it reliable. Could just see the stuck up PC mums faces if we turned up for a rally in this! Would make a change from turning up in the cow trailer....

Blow me, I'd stick that on the scrap heap! lol

Oh !Have you no soul? Fully restored,it would be a thing of beauty.:)My old horse would have loved to travel in one. The equine equivalent of driving around in an old rolls royce.:D

*makes mental note to keep old mahogany-bodied 1979 Transit for a few more years and then offer it to Mike007*

I would never travel a horse in it but would love to see it restored to it's original condition as part of a museum collection - what an interesting vehicle.

I wonder whether you would really enjoy driving it! No power steering, double declutching to change down, very heavy, like pushing a wheel barrow with a flat tyre! I have memories of these vehicles when they were in use with the forces, you needed muscles like iron, and a very sore behind was all you had to show at the end of the day, nostalgia has it's place, but not in reality!
