What is the best material, for putting on horsebox ramps??? or what do you have on yr ramp!!!!
coconut matting
rubber
ramp carpet
or other !!!!!

Looking to recover my ramp.
 
I have an 8 mm covering of ribbed rubber matting glued down with evo stick on my ramp and it works fine and is non slip.
 
Have had rubber and carpet and both work well. But "ify" loaders don't like the black rubber but like green or beige carpet.
 
I had rubber but when I replaced the ramp I used carpet with ali runners. Works fine in all weathers.

A word of caution though. If you are recovering an original ramp be careful about the weight difference in the new covering material vs the old as this could significantly change the effectiveness of the ramp springs.
 
I bought rubber ramp mats from Fieldguard. They were absolutely brilliant BUT they weighed around 110 lbs and as Juno says that makes a huge difference to the springing of the ramp. (And also to the payload)
 
I think the type of rubber can make quite a difference! Our old lorry has sort of pimply matting with wooden struts and that was never ever slippery, whereas the new one I want to recover as that has rubber with ribbed lines accross and that is much more slippery. I might look into carpet as the springs aren't brilliant and I'm guessing carpet is lighter?
 
I have rubber but it's got a "checkered" surface covered with tiny, tiny squares. I would not use flat rubber, even with the "line" every two inches that it normally has. There isn't enough grip in it.
 
We bought a moulded rubber ramp mat as personally hate carpet even with strip find it slippy when wet and a beggar to clean.

Mat was one piece and excellent but did replace springs
 
Only one option for the ramp really, Rubber, with ribs! There are plenty of Horsebox parts suppliers on Ebay or somewhere like www.horseboxworld.com

Coconut gets very heavy when wet, carpet not so much but its slippy. If your replacing the Horsebox ramp surface, its a really good idea to check the actual ramp construction condition (Esp. if the ply under the surface is starting to perish, Ply also soaks up water like a sponge, so its a good oppurtunity to give the Horsebox ramp a good inspection. Be really careful if your taking the ramp off the springs are very powerful. If your budget runs to it would take it to a reputable hosebox dealer or manufacterer.
