Horse box rescue, any recommendations/experiences good and bad

We've got our horsebox insured with SEIB and took their breakdown cover.

We've had to use it on two occasions and can't praise them enough. Lorry wouldn't start a Badminton and he was there within 20 mins (thought it was funny we were at the event with no horses on board!) and fixed a sticky switch in 2 mins, and then we broke down on the motorway coming back from Scotland. They diagnosed the problem very quickly and did sort it out, but due to the further 6 hours (!) we had to travel would not let us leave until another vehicle with more sophisticated equipment came to confirm!

Hoping there won't be a third time soon!!

My horsebox is insured with Anthony Evans and I use their breakdown service. Used them twice, once with my horse in. They were quick and efficient, and got my horse back to the yard asap. Couldn't have asked for more.

Also use anthony evans and they are great used them a few times when i had the lorry, when i swapped to a car and trailer i stuck with them as was more than happy with the service ( touch wood not had to call them to the car yet!!)

NFU Mutual do horsebox recovery as part of their insurance package I think. You can find your local agent on their website.

ESS are brilliant (they are the NFU agents)

SEIB use Equity Red Star again very good

OHTO hmmm

Antony Evans - check the small print they tend to lift up your lorry and tow you home which for your horse is awful and also check your insurance!

Im with SEIB, have used them twice and both times they have been super.
the first time we ran out of fuel (totaly mums fault). the mechanic was there with in 30 mins and had us going again 20 mins after that.

The 2nd time we used them we blew the brake master cylinder on a busy duel carriage way on a bank holiday! we managed to pull off to the hard shoulder but by tht time our brake fluid was bubbleing. They had a mechanic with us within 5 mins (thats real service) and as i thought my ponies might freak at being unloaded on the side of the road (one isnt particularly good with traffic) they put the lorry on a low loader, took the lorry to a local bird sanctuary and unloaded the ponies there!

Ive heard some very horrible stories about antony evans rescue.

I cant reccomend SEIB enough! they may be a bit more expensive then AE but its worth every penny!

we have been with ESS for years and had to use them on at least 3 occasions. Superb service every time The last time was on a very busy motorway after a blow out . The call centre rang me every 5 mins to make sure the horses were coping until the garage had been out and fitted a new tyre.
