Its been decided that the time has come this year to send my boy away to be backed/broken:eek:

Thus seeking recommendations for people who do so in the Shropshire area :) (though will travel a bit outside). Haven't done any long-reining or lunging with him following the advice that done wrong it costs more time to undo than it saves so he'd be from scratch and hes a 15hh(ish..didn't quite make the height i'd aimed for, midget horse:p) Thoroughbred x Warmblood aiming for a nice all-rounder (we hope!:o)

Also what sort cost per week would we be looking at, roughly?

Also the other way round, if anyone knows who to avoid in this area please feel free to pm;)

Thank you in advance:D

Try sending a PM to Janet George on here, if you look on her website (Indigo Irish Draughts) she has a page dedicated to how they go about breaking. If I was in your position I would not hesitate to send my youngster to her for starting and I am based in Essex – this is one thing that needs to be done correctly and she knows what she is doing!!

Good Luck!!

Paid about £150 a week, pony was away 4 weeks but they rang after two and said I could collect whenever but then I had done a lot of the ground work!

I sent my lad to Zara Owen, she's based en route to Lake Vyrnwy, it look me about 30/40 mins from Shrewsbury centre to get there. She was wonderful, nothing seems to phase her! The yard isn't anything special but they did a wonderful job! He was there 4 weeks.

Charlie Lloyd at Park Farm in Quatt (near Bridgnorth) is absolutely excellent. Send me a DM if you'd like his mobile number.
He's knowledgeable, understanding but sets clear boundaries. He worked absolute wonders with my mare, she's very well behaved now and I can do anything with her (which I didn't ever expect to be the case as she was incredibly marish, explosive and flighty). She's calm and happy now thanks to Charlie's work.
