I sold my lovely mare as realistically she was always a low level eventer & she has gone to the perfect home so that's great! :)

My instructor has got a bunch of young eventers from Ireland, all very nice!! He has 1 which is perfect for me, exactly my type but I didn't want to get another till spring however I am well aware come spring anything of this quality will not be in my budget! If you were me would you just deal with it & buy her.

She's standing at 16.1 rising 4 year old mare by harlequin du carell (sp) out of a touchdown mare, literally perfect confirmation, gorgeous paces & when he loose jumped her she jumped the 5 bar gate out of the school, twice ! Haha full 5 stage vetting cert

I have 2 others & I really wanted to do the winter with just 2 but he has offered to keep her in his fields for a while.

Help! It's not a head & heart decision this time its 2 sides of my head arguing!! Arghhh :/

if its not financial and your going to have 3 new winter presumably anyway - i'd just do it, from what i remember the other two are just youngsters aren't they? can they not go out on holiday for the worst of the winter?

If it was me i'd probably do it and deal with the consequences later . . .

No I can easily afford 3 although 2 is obviously cheaper!
The other 2 are rising 4 year olds as well, already broken 1 & 1 is in the process but 1 will be sold in spring :)

I wish I was the reckless type I really want to be haha :p

I would just get her. How would you feel if you didn't and someone else got her? Look at it that way and you know what to do then.

I know there are a few eventers who are interested in her but he wanted me to see her first so she will go very quickly if I don't decide I know that :/

Oh just do it - you only live once and what if you never found a horse like her again - you'd constantly be thinking why didn't i do it, its only time, there are the same number of minutes in a day regardless of the number of horses you have ;) xx

If you really like the mare and would buy her in a flash in the spring, then get her. You can always take up the offer of him keeping her in his fields for a while or just keep her out 24/7 yourself if you have the facilities.

different type but i just bought a new horse.. i had sold my current one, surprisingly quickly, so much so I couldn't believe it in the current market/time of year - but literally first viewer was counting out the notes there and then! Horse hunting has always been a nightmare for me.. a few friends said just to wait over winter, that soon enough the ground will be crap, we’ll have snow and just to take my time. I fully intended to but an ad popped up locally for a wee irish cob x that had been brought over from sales and he ticked absolutely every single box. I went to see him and he was better than Id hoped for... if I’d written out exactly what I wanted in a horse then it was him. Again, I thought perhaps in the current market he might not sell quickly, he’s 5, green and very forward and a bit sensitive too so not everyones cup of tea, friends said it was silly to buy at this time of year especially when I hadn’t really looked around at others either.

I bought him and picked him up the next day. So glad I did, he’s fab :D If Id waited a) he would have been a lot more money come spring and once he’d been out to a bit more and b) if he had sold and I’d missed out I would definitely have regretted it.
