Has anybody been on/ planning to go on a camp run by
www.horsecamp.co.uk
I am seriously considering going to the one at Somerford Park 26 - 29 April, and wondering if anybody had any experience good or bad

just had a look at there website, they look like they are really good and a lot of fun, id definately try one but im horseless this year unless i took my daughters horse but he's a miserable git so maybe next year when ive got my own again!

I took my horse to Somerford Horsecamp just over a year ago. The facilities are great, so were the teachers, & we had a great time s/j and xc

. They also have a good farm ride that you can do on the Friday - worth arriving early and doing that too.
I'm taking my youngster to the Horsecamp s/j & x/c (on a surface) one day clinic there next month!

I've done about 12 over the last few years!! Absolutely love em! Been on my own and with friends, always had a fab time, learnt loads and horsie has enjoyed it lots too! I've always gone to Somerford and its less than an hour from me, but will get round to trying some other venues!

I don't know about that one specifically, but just generally I have been on a PC camp and a Riding Club camp in the last few years, and thought I loved the PC one til I did the RC one! It was SO much fun at RC camp, I learnt loads, and I didn't even ride half the time as I was borrowing horses from friends! My RC has another camp this year and I can't wait! I'm so excited! So generally, I'd reccommend any camp! Great fun!

I have been on a few with my RC - they are great - ride your horse during the day - drink too much wine in the evenings - perfect! You have to go. I always come away feeling like i have achieved something.

I run a 3 day showing camp at Keysoe for The Show Ring Forum which is now in its third year (TGM came along last year as well!). It is great fun, and as everyone says, you really get to know your horse better in an environment away from home. Evenings are also great fun, although we did lose one person for a whole day after she drank a little too much the night before. Fortunately there was a spare rider so at least the pony managed to do his two sessions! My advice is providing your horse doesn't mind staying away from home, the definitely go along - you will be bound to learn something new and have a great holiday without worrying about who will be looking after your horses.

Ie been to camp 3 years on the run. 1st year I went I took a 5 year old that had never seen xc before so that was great for her as Somerford have excellent facilities.
Last year I took the horse I was Pre Novicing and jumped some fanstatic stuff. I don't think its as useful if you are competing at much of a higher standard as most groups opt not to jump bigger than 3ft 3 but brill for everyone else.
Its a great social weekend and I met a lot of new people and had some good laughs. Id go for it.
