Well not strictly true, he can but it does seem more of an effort than when on the left rein. I've had him just over a year, he's 8. Whether ridden or on the lunge he seems to find it more difficult to strike off and maintain a good canter. I lunged him this morning, left rein fine but once we moved on to the right rein I could really feel more of a pull on the lunge line as he struggled to keep himself balanced (centrifugal force - bless him, almost trips himself up). Oddly enough at walk and trot his (my?) less flexible rein is the left! So any suggestions for exercises to help with this much appreciated.

(He has always been like this - not a recent change or anything), teeth and saddle done recently, just sorting out another appointment for his back.

I wouldn't ask him to do this until I'd had him checked out for hind limb lameness. If he is struggling, there is a reason.
